I guess I should give GTA a try now that I have a PS2 again, eh?
-
I believe the technical term is a "shit load". I think it's typically more expensive than the chassis itself.Thanks. We'll see how much it costs to send big chunks of metal from Italy to the US
Here's the thing, all chassis makers are a compromise of some sort, you can get any two of the following: quick, cheap, atractive, never all three.
-
No worries about sharing, ordered a couple of cases, took about a month to get them.I guess I'll continue to look for more options. Nate would you mind sharing your experience with Par-Metal? If you don't want to post it here a PM would be great. Thanks.
But Grawk is right, the Ebay vendor, if you can find what you're looking for, is much, much quicker.
-
Hmm, I've done ok buying direct from Par Metals. It wasn't a great experience but wasn't as bad as what I'm hearing from others. Why?
Bottom line Deepak, the finish on the Par chassis is never going to be anywhere near a professional chassis that an electronics company would use. There's a reason that they are the cheapest large format chassis you can buy.

It's short for, seldomly used portable device that must be cheap and functional. I have gotten away from using my Ipod daily, heck some weeks I don't use it, so dropping 2.5x on a new one made no sense.Zune.
[me=Nate]is audio broke right now...[/me]
-
If the Zune arrives and works well this weekend I'll sell you my SiK Din for next to nothing.

Vaps, we must have more VCAPS!The opamp version with two amps
-
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! :'(
-
Ditto, the show had moments of "teh funny" for me but got really tired, pretty fast.I never really liked the show much.
-
Just be aware that the higher you spec the amperage the more overshoot you're going to get. Most likely the amp is equipped to deal with this to a certain degree but I wouldn't use 1.5A wallwart in a situation that spec'd a third of an amp, odds are pulling that little bit of current the 1.5A PS is going to run pretty high output voltages, which could be a bad thing. You shouldn't have any issue finding a 12V/.5A wallwart at Mouser or Digikey, if you do let me know and I'll poke around and see what I can find for you.

I think ATI might be a closer match than anything Par-Metals could produce.
or
None of the rack mounted Par cases that I've seen have integral heat sinks, which I'm guessing you'll need for the build, if not something like this might work (click for link to ebay auction).

I was thinking more along the lines of a 2-channel beta22?I'd say about one kidney is fair...

Which ironically enough you can do, you just have to guess you way into finding the button that made perfect sense to Chu. You'll notice that next to the thread title there's a little button that looks like this: , how you're supposed to know that this is for searching a thread without a hover clue is beyond me. I took a chance based on other visual evidence on the site and guessed correctly. I'd also "guess" that most people are like my friend JB and get so frustrated they don't try. I mean it's cool and all that Chu wrote the software but holy hell it's cumbersome coming from a mainstream forum.I agree, and for me, its mostly the lack of forum software features that is killing that place. Damn I just want to search within a thread.
-
I read that and I think it's a smart move, the other forums drew such little participation that it just didn't make sense. I do think that he should have a MISC forum for stuff outside of DIY and the Maketplace. But I have to admit, the DIY Forum there is the only one that I ever look at, and pretty infrequently these days.HeadWize was a comforting home back in the days when I didn't know about Head-Fi. Thank goodness the DIY community is still thriving.

Says the guy with a different name at Head-Fi... Oh teh irony!Does Nanoha = veniogenesis?
I didn't know that.

Holy shit you kill me when you do that. I'm crying I'm laughing so hard right now.I vouch for my time tested backed by german copyright lawyer design: <snip>

Agree, the Peter story line has traction (plus bonus points for girl w/ accent, yay!) as does Claire's but I swear if I see the stupid Mexican twins use/unuse their powers again to get out of a jamb I'm going to shut it off. And Hiro is a mixed bag right now, if they'd let him move on from yet another repetitive story line (sark is good, sark is a drunk idiot, rinse, repeat) I may be on board but so far I'm not buying it. Did I mention that I hate the Mexican twins yet? I hate the twins.I didn't think it was terrible. I still like the Peter story line and the Claire story line may get interesting. That blonde is back, and her story is boring so far though. Hiro is always good. Not sure what they are doing with Sylar, kinda lame.
And Reks, they had ample time to realize that the show was going to have a second season. I mean it was a hit from the get go, so they knew what they needed to do for at least 6 months.

Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. I can't believe I forgot that one...imod + hornet of course
you noob
Yeah, that'd probably do it too.the SDS-XLR that Hirsch has mentioned that was built for use with an iPod
-
If the Diablo is the penultimate (second best) what exactly is more over the top than that tank of a chassis? The Diablo looks like the penultimate iPod freak's wankbox

Are you watching the new series? I'll be catching the first ep tomorrow night, can't f'ing wait!Top Gear!!

Your daydreams are so far out of my league that I've got nothing to offer other than a little perspective.
Digital Questions:
How much do you think you'd gain over the Exemplar Modded Denon to justify what would probably be a huge increase in cost?
Is that fractional gain worth it to you?
Do you really feel like your source is the weak link?
Vinyl Questions:
Do you enjoy vinyl? As a medium is just isn't for everyone, it's fussy, can be a serious pain to setup and availability of albums is pretty variable. For me it's mostly a lazy thing, when I sit down and listen I want to be able to a) jump around when I want without having to jump up and be able to listen to more than 4 tracks before having to get back up and flip the black disc thingy.
One other can of gas to throw on the fire - have you given any thought to going balanced?
