  1. I wouldn't be having this problem if someone actually made great sounding closed dynamic cans that actually blocked sounds.

Hopefully in the next couple of months I'll get some custom molds made for my ER4P's and let you know how they sound. Granted, that's probably not really what you're looking for but dropping $1000 on closed cans that would then make you spend more money on another amp seems like more lunacy than I'd be comfortable with.
  2. Yeah, I was going through Head-Fi and the only used pair I was able to spot, didn't make it to the FS forum.

Have you ever gotten to audition them Haj? Seems like a pretty big risk if you haven't, I'd let your K1k rig pan out at least through the beta22, maybe that'll be good enough?
  3. I really like pbase, seems pretty reasonable to me and offers unlimited linking/bandwidth as far as I know. I can't remember the name of the other one that a lot of the photogs that I know use, if I remember it I'll post again.

  4. In all seriousness a few comments:

    • I can imagine that they'd be wicked fussy to get setup right given that no two heads are the same.
    • Battery powered, no thanks! I think I read that you can use them sans battery but I wonder how that amplification is bypassed once you take the batts out.
    • Pretty lofty entry price.

  5. So begins, the era of Nugget Audio.

No F'ING way. So begins the era of Nate finally finishing a bunch of stuff that he's been putting off. I've got around 100' of cabling to build that's long overdue and I wanted it to look nice and last, so I ordered the good stuff. No more techflex for me, no more worrying about colors, as Dusty would say the only color worth using is black. :)
  6. Hah! Saw your post. Perhaps only a metaphorical public spanking was in order. I doubt he's fool enough to argue further (though maybe I'm wrong), and my money's on him disappearing after he buys his bitch-attracting headphones. I wonder what bitch-attracting headphones look like?

Well, they've cooked 4 of his posts so far so my guess is the ban stick can't be far behind. Let him argue, I think I can handle his wit and charm. Nobody messes with the head-case crew.

On topic, there is no single, comprehensive source for tube and hybrid amps for the simple reason that there are so many variations between different amps that it would be impossible. If you'd like information about the amp you think you're getting why not just tell us what it is and see if we can help?

  7. Why do all my threads digress almost immediately? Nearly all them go so far as inspire somebody to say "this would never happen in postjack's forum". what the fucking fuck is going on?! oh and I'd also like to add a fuck you at the end to all the people that made my tube amp thread a pile of shit. ;D

This post would never happen on postjack's forum.
  8. I think Katie has a fantastic voice that is ultimately, totally and completely let down by tragically lame accompanying music. I really enjoy vocal centric music (Joanna Newsom, Rachael Yamagata, Jenny Owen Youngs, etc, etc.) but the music on Pictures is bad to the point of distraction for me.

    [me=nate]dons his nomex ban-suit[/me]

  9. I'm actually not too bummed out about Niki being gone

Pfft, without her Heroes is lacking in eye candy. >:D In all seriousness it has to be the male-heaviest cast to come along in a long time.
  10. The Peter storyline is getting interesting too though. ;)

Yup, but I could do without the Mexican twins. Where the hell has Niki been?!?!?
  11. I was just talking about the ever changing configurations. The value proposition for mac is the macbook + external display. But it helps to not be tied to "must have the best performance". I try to get as long as possible from my computer purchases, so I buy 1 generation old, and try and keep them for 2-4 years. I also value small way more than fast.

Yeah, the ever-changing config this is a bitch - I expected it out of Dell/Gateway/HP but for some reason thought that Lenovo/IBM was a little different.

And I'm trying not to shoot for the bleeding edge with this laptop, just to get something that will serve my current needs and have enough left in the tank so that it doesn't obsolete itself in a year or two. If they made a 15" Macbook I'd take a long hard look, but I don't think that 13, especially in widescreen aspect ratios would cut it.
