The new classic is probably my next Ipod. Although I'll be keeping a watchful eye on the refurb store since it would stand to reason that the old 80gig model should be less than the new especially if it's a refurb.

Thanks man, that's pretty darn cheap!Homegrown Audio good deals under their "Specials" category. Right now it is 50ft of 24awg silver wire in teflon for $55.

Any tips for threading the wire through the insulation? Handmade makes it sound like anything over a couple of feet could be problematic unless you upsize the covering. I only need 1M interconnects so I'm torn whether or not to go with the 20ga teflon vs. 22ga to use with 22ga wire.
Thanks again.

I'm building a couple of cables for a friend and he'd like them to be made of solid silver. My first thought was to buy some of Homegrown Audio's prebraided silver wire. It's not the cheapest but it is the easiest route to good looking silver cables in my opinion. And for what's it worth I've done the google thing and seen some stuff like VH Audio offers which is actually more than HGA. The first couple of pages of links that I found yielded nothing useful so here at am, at the mercy of your help. My only other experience buying bulk silver wire (from a GB on head-fi) wasn't particularly good so I'm wondering if any one wants to point me in the direction of a good supplier. Anything in the 22 to 24ga should work just fine and either pre-braided or bulk would be something I'd consider.

Carrot juice does that?juice much?

Let's hope I make it. Right now I'm trying to figure out if I want to push my luck and go to FLA at the end of October and then try to get away with going to NYC two weeks later. That'd be like the Fonz trying to jump the shark while riding a shark.

IIRC TTVJ closed them out at $550 or something like that.i remember being told when they still were in production they didn't have such a great resale value (something in the $600 neighbor) and that coincided with the less than lofty reputation.
-
All I've seen is north of $1000, which pains me since I turned down a new pair at $500ish two years ago.

[me=nate]double crosses posty off of "people to help" list, also makes note that he is surprised that posty knew the word "nefarious"[/me]

Fair enough, let me know when I release my first product, I can't wait for the checks to start rolling in.We don't need rules to give out labels here motty.
-
In the words of Reks, pfft.
That listing is 100% in compliance with any and all stated rules of Head-Fi. Since there are no rules governing such actions at Head-case I had nothing to follow and did not list them here.

oh NOS!!!1! The cat's out of the bag now, ain't it?speaking of pretty, nate is selling his woodied 325s.

Congrats man, I'm glad it finally all worked out. And even with the beta22 out the M3 is no slouch. Technically speaking it has superior specifications in several categories and is way overkill for headphones. Certainly nothing to be scoffed at.

It looks like the world's biggest stone shaped by the ocean.

Well, it would really depend on what Hirsch's opinion is of their sound. If the mods made them decent someone searching for a closed can might be interested. Can't say I'd be, but others might.here? good luck

I don't have any available funds for headphones...
For the banned/can't read/whatever:
I've simply got too much gear, and no place to put it. So, this system is up for sale. The headphone is the Stax Omega II (SR-007) in very good condition. Performance is excellent. No obvious flaws, but I think the elastic supported band over the head is not retracting properly on one side (does not affect comfort or performance in any way). The Stax case for the headphone is included, of course. The amp is the Stax SRM-007t. The amp has a single-ended passthrough on input 1, and is capable of accepting balanced input on input 2. The amp is in excellent condition, with one cosmetic flaw. The power LED went out, and I installed a replacement. I could not get the original LED out of the power switch assembly, or find one of the same size, so there is an off-size LED behind the power switch assembly (I tried to catch this in one of the photos). Most people don't notice this, and it has no effect on function, of course. The amp is set for US voltage. The amp comes with original box and manual, schematic and bias instructions, and the tubes I have been using. In addition, I will add a matched set of backup tubes (Raytheon (Japan), Mazda-Brimar, RCA, or Sylvania), whichever brand the buyer would like (the installed tubes are the Raytheon type). Price includes shipping and Paypal fees in the US. International shipping will be at the buyer's expense, and I can't guarantee that the buyer will be able to change the voltage setting on the amp. Price for system: $2050.Note: I am selling this as a system, and will not break it up at this time. I do not use PM, so please contact me through my email link.

I think this would mave a lovely avatar.

Nice! I enjoyed the un-aired pilot quite a bit. It gave good perspective on how far the show's creators have come in developing the series.Heroes Season 1 DVD

There's just no excuse for the way these first examples of the redesign look. Handmade, machine made, who gives a shit? Either way they look sloppy and rushed and never should have passed anything called QC. After Tuesday night I'll post up a couple of high quality pics of Ian's and my latest handiwork as proof that any idiot can make a decent looking set of cups.

My issue deals primarily the gain they they require. If they'll work balanced with a gain of 4 or 6 off my beta22 they'll be here to stay.Well, unless you're a wuss, if you configure your rig to sound good with K340's, it will still sound great with any other dynamic headphone.
-
I'll find out soon enough. But purely looking at the numbers, I think the Beta22 would be a superb amp for a K340.
The real answer is that it depends on whether or not your source is going to have issues driving a low impedance load. I used a 10k pot on my first beta and had no issues with a variety of sources. Also, from what I'm told the only sources that are likely to have issues with low input-impedance amps are tube output sources. And even then if the tube output has a buffer on it (some do, some don't) it should be fine.Does anyone know what value pots you need for the beta 22 and the mini cubed, the beata 22 seems to say either 50k or 10k will work?
Still not sure what I'm going to use for pots on my balanced beta since I've moved to 4 channel vs. 6. Also, for gain I'll be going either 2/4 or 3/6. If the K340s don't have enough balls with the 6 via balanced drive then so be it. I'm not re-configuring my whole rig for them, my name ain't Jay.

Holy shit, it appears that they did the same to the RS-1. Maybe this is just a bad picture but BLECH!

I have the velour pads, just haven't tried them yet. They sure look comfy.Anyone tried the K340 with velour pads?
