  1. Hey guys, where is Jacob? I went to a long standing 2 year long multipage PM with tons of info in it, including some about where to send an Omega or Rolex watch for service by mail, and it's all gone. Tried to send him a PM and it says he can't receive messages. Now I can't find his recent posts either - a search shows he's a member with no ports found.
  2. Thanks for pointing that out. I changed the 3rd photo to the correct watch. We have two of the wrong one between myself and my son, and are considering selling one of them, but not sure yet.
  3. Yeah, I was considering the Ti Spring Drive Diver, but instead I fell in love with the SBGX115 9F61 HAQ diver because of the gorgeous white dial, and then added this Omega Titanium PO 9300 chronograph. The GS white dial is every bit as nice as those on my Polar Explorer II watches. Just amazing build quality. This Ti chronograph a fairly large watch, but it fits my body type well (see photo taken from farther away rather than 12 inches from the camera). I'm down from 245 to 212 pounds, but I'm still not a tiny guy. I switched it out to the bracelet minus two links, and while the bracelet doesn't squeeze the sides of my wrist like the ISOFRANE, the watch feels heavier. I think that I'm going to order the Omega blue rubber white stich strap with Ti folding clasp. This is the watch that will likely prompt me to sell my 2 year old Seamaster Pro ceramic bezel diving chronograph sooner than later.
  4. Here is the reason why I didn't buy the Seiko Ti Spring Drive diver. INCOMING !! Omega titanium Planet Ocean Chronograph Diver arrived today! I took it off the bracelet immediately and installed a dark blue ISOFRANE vanilla scented rubber strap.
  5. I dunno, I think the SBGA029 is a pretty good second choice, if you can't afford the Titanium version.
  6. I'm pretty happy with my stock HD800 that I picked up at CanJam 2009 plus Black Dragon balanced cable. I have a Locus Design custom made Hyperion 6-foot cable that Lee made just for me, which I use in more portable situations or with single ended amps.
  7. I'd likely own that if it looked my my SBGX115 Magnetic resistance performance Type Magnetism resistance (in case of direct current magnetic field) Explanation Common timepiece Up to 1,600 A/m (approx. 20 gauss) The minimum magnetism resistance requirement for a watch. (For reference) Type 1 antimagnetic watch (magnetic resistant watch) Up to 4,800 A/m (approx. 60 gauss) A magnetic resistant watch almost always maintains its performance when placed at 5 cm from magnetic field generating devices of everyday life. Type 2 antimagnetic watch (super magnetic resistant watch) Up to 16,000 A/m (approx. 200 gauss) A super magnetic resistant watch almost always maintains its performance when placed at 1 cm from magnetic field generating devices of everyday life. Diver's watch Up to 4,800 A/m (approx. 60 gauss) The magnetism resistance requirement for a diver's watch. So, my Seiko SBGX115 is supposed to be Type 2 antimagnetic, and the minimum is 1/5 of the Rolex Milgauss resistance, and almost nothing vs the Omega Master Co-Axial. Seiko doesn't say just how high their resistance goes. Too bad, because they could market it more to those who need resistance.
  8. Whatever. I'm saying that what he hears may not be what you or others hear, depending on the gear used, and in addition, that maybe he's just a little too excited when he posts things because that's his personality. And we can't help the brain training, it's built into us, so what we hear is dependent on what we were listening to just prior to auditioning the gear. If I started to listen to the Edition 9 as the first headphone of the day it wasn't so bad, but if I listened to the HD800 or SR-007 first, and switched to the Ed 9 they sounded MUCH worse. If I listened to the Darth Beyer first, the Edition 9 sounded even more amazing when switching to them. When I'd come off of listening to the Edition 9 and switched to my HE60 the HE60 sounded shrill and fatiguing. But if the HE60 were the 1st headphone I listened to they sounded amazing. blah blah blah - the brain adjusted and made a good phone bad and a bad phone good, temporarily.
  9. I'm still confused how Haas is still considered an American team while using a Ferrari powertrain. I was excited to hear they're the first in 30 years, and disappointed that they didn't develop all of the car.
  10. I met with Fang last week, and my wife and I had dinner with him while he was in Colorado for a manufacturer trade show. I discussed the Shanggri-La with him, asking about the rear grills, and he convinced me that the design is intentional and that their measurements don't indicate a back-wave reflection problem or resonance problem, but rather it's all positive. Personally, I would not say anything about them and the design until we can hear it for ourselves. As for Mike, he's a really nice guy who is maybe too excited to try new things and maybe doesn't get out of the honeymoon period, but I do think he writes what he believes in. In my case, I've turned down a lot of review offers, because I don't want or need the attention. Other's like that kinda thing. And while some gear is better than others, back in the old days I tended to only say bad things if it sounds really bad - if it's "okay sounding" but not as good as other gear then I'll share the good and the bad, and then rank it among other similarly priced things I've heard, while making sure to list what's better and what's worse. If I ever said I love it, it's because it really suited my personal preferences. i.e. Darth Beyers, I don't think I had anything good to say unless I used EQ and forgot about it, while Edition 9 sounded good only if they were the first headphone I put on for the day and they were modded. Back then a modded Ed 9 still killed the Darth Beyer with their energy and exciting/powerful sound. But if I would start out first with a well amp'd HD600, SR-007, or HD800 and then switch to an Edition 9, then it was like "Oh crap, these are dark and moody and closed in like a Darth Beyer". Others would not bother to rank them Darth < Ed 9 < HD600 < HD800 like me, but rather would clump the Darth and Ed 9 together at the bottom and not mention any pros for them. On the other hand, my SR-009 sounded wonderful with my KGBH, almost perfect, but were a little fatiguing in the highs and lacked punch with my KGSS. They sounded even thinner and brighter if the volume was pushed too far on the KGSS, while the KGBH gave them weight and punch. If I hadn't bought the KGBH then I would have had a lot more to complain about with the SR-009, because system synergy is important and can make or break one's impressions. Many people here complain about the SR-009 having some issues, but frankly with the right amp and DAC I just didn't agree. We train our brain to make up for our ear's deficiencies, and our ears/brain do adjust to what we listen to the most. And after a long listening session, if one switches the gear up then the sound of the next one they try out can be altered by that brain training. Listen to crap first and the next thing sounds wonderful, and visa versa. Basically, it takes a cleansing of the ear pallet to realize what you're really listening to, as well as proper gear synergy. Something that's bad sounding might not fully rear it's ugly head until It's compared side by side with something that's so superior that the flaws can't be ignored or explained away anymore.
  11. NOMOS Orion Timeless Midnight Limited Ed arrived - pre-ordered in October 2015.
  12. INCOMING! Next one is here tomorrow (NOMOS Ltd Ed). And then my last watch purchase (of the 1st quarter) will be here on Tuesday...
  13. Here are a few of my Blue Everest strap.
  14. Yes, the NOMOS will ship by the end of the week, so I am told. I sold the Aqua Terra (white dial blue hands) to make room for the next two watches, and you'll see why.
  15. My next watch shipped today after being on a 6 week back order. Then I have another watch that should ship on Friday, that I pre-ordered back in October last year. So they don't count when I say I won't buy more for a little bit, since they were already on order
  16. Watchvaultnyc has a couple of 145.022 69-ST watches for sale, if you want a pre-moon Speedmaster.
  17. Thanks! One less watch today - I sold my Aqua Terra 2503.33 to a deserving buyer, after it came back from Omega for a movement service, and made money on the sale. I had the Snoopy mostly paid for, and the sale went a long way to finishing it off. Gave up one white dial watch for another.
  18. Thanks Guys! Had a nice relaxing day mixed with a few errands - I went to the watchmaker to pick up a watch that was being regulated, who also changed a couple of watch straps and sized my son's watch bracelet for him. He'll have my Snoopy Award birthday-Omega appraisal done soon. I shipped an Omega Aqua Terra to it's new owner who's helping pay for Snoopy. I weighed in at my nutritionist on the body composition analyzer, and at 212 pounds my body fat is down from 84 lbs to 58 lbs since October, and I'm only 12 lbs away from my end goal of 200. Losing 30 lbs in 6 months makes it easier to walk on my bad leg too. Went to have a nice dinner despite the calories, and then home to watch my favorite recorded shows and now reading this before bed.
  19. 14 Omegas counting the new one coming tomorrow, but not the two that I bought for my son for becoming an Eagle Scout or not dying before his 18th birthday by doing anything stupid. Here is a partial list, but mostly complete except for no room to list all the sold watches - I have one more secret watch on backorder for a month that should ship this week. 20. I thought it was supposed to be a frank and beans, meatballs and man sausage, twig and berries...
  21. If you guys haven't noticed, I stopped getting into these discussions a while ago, because they often become too heated and opinionated. Since I picked up my HD800 in person at CanJam 2009 I have been happy with them, as long as I use them with the proper DAC/amp combo to compliment them. Usually it's my PS Audio PWD Mk2 and Eddie Current ZDT amp, or PWD Mk2 with EF-6 amp when I want a little punchier sound. I use a Moon Audio Black Dragon 4-pin XLR balanced cable. The sound, imaging, and speed is very similar to my HE60 Baby Orpheus, but with better impact (although the HE60 sound is more etherial and ghostly, as if coming from everywhere). I'll take my HD800 over any Audeze I've tried, because the headphones disappear while the Audeze keep reminding me that I'm listening to a headphone. Don't shoot the messenger, but my favorite portable amp with the stock HD800 is the RSA F-35 Lightning, which gives them wonderful warmth and bass punch with no edge to the treble, offering a synergy that only a few of my desktop amps have offered with them. I'm mostly talking about frequency response correction here, in the pairing of HD800 and F-35.
  22. Almost as hot as his daughter. And now, for something completely different. My 54th birthday present will arrive Monday, a day before I can peek at, touch, or lick it...
