Wouldn't graphite powder be a poor option for high humidity environments? What does Stax use for diaphragm coating?

Not sure if this bit of alcoholic folklore is true or not but I hear from my boozer friend that Titos actually buys shit vodka then filters it
I've never heard of that. My understanding is that they distill their own corn-based vodka. I think they've only gotten popular in the last 5 or so years.
The shady stuff we used to drink in the Eire was Scottish vodka, General something or another. 20 Euro a handle... never good when something is that cheapYa the $13 one isn't anything amazing, but I think it's just fine for mixed drinks with friends. I've done informal comparisons between it and other cheap vodkas and like this one more. Kirkland also sells a smoother vodka for a little under $30 (handle) that's supposedly rebranded Grey Goose.
It's about $18 at Trader Joe's. Hope that there is one nearby to you.Handle or a fifth? That's about the price of a fifth here in LA.

I'm a tito's guy myself. 27 bucks for a handle here. if I want to spend less I'll get a handle of kirklands for 13 at Costco.

Question on tube matching for this amp: say, for the 6CA7, do we need 4 matched pairs, 2 matched quads, or a single octet? 12AX7?

I think rather than try and write about the audio equipment I have, I'll just listen to it.
DaveR,
Gotta admit I laughed

Dave seems nice but I agree he has posted the same 3 or 4 things at least 30 times in justins bhse thread on hf. We heard you already bro.

Still don't have the r10s back from alex. These are indeed the same set involved in the whole davidmahler fiasco so they've caused me quite a headache. I sent them to alex a year ago and have since tried contacting him multiple times via pm here, pm on hf, phone, voicemail, and numerous email addresses with zero response. I've also had jude and amos try to contact him to no avail. No idea what's going on but I should probably contact his local authorities soon. Maybe a knock on the door will wake him up. :/

Try replacing the thick dampening material on the back with something less dense

Tari do you have a link? I don't know what wbf is

Better than your R10s?
I said 'possibly' because I had the R10s in mind. It depends. The R10 is pretty much top of the hill for classical (especially well recorded, large orchestral material) but is kinda colored so I could see somebody not liking it at all. The Paradox is probably a lot better at rock/pop.

Does it hold its own with some of the good open cans ?
Yep easily. I don't like closed hps but its possibly the best nonelectrostat I've heard. Very neutral and it doesn't really sound closed.

Get the LFF Paradox
-
These sound really clean for a dynamic but way too bassy for my tastes. Garbage for the price they're asking but could sound nice with eq.

Speaking of cats and Quads, my cat decides to piss all over my ESL57 grills when he sneaks into the room they're in.

LFF Paradox would be a good choice
