  1. nice! Try not to fall asleep.
  2. Finally spending some quality time with the KGSS DX and it is a really nice amp. I have to get the 007t going side by side to compare them more but this is a good match with both the 4070 and the Lambda Signatures.
  3. John Coltrane -- A Love Supreme (SACD)
  4. I think there is a general misconception that you "need" all kinds of crap to play a record. I have a very nice rig but I do not have an alignment tool other that the thing VPI provides, I don't have a mat, I don't have a test record and I use regular old levels to accomplish leveling (see JP). It's always fun to research and buy gear, though, so here are my 2 cents on some that I think are good. I like the thick plastic outside covers for my good albums, and I always replace the inner liner with the paper kind that are polylined (see PJ) on the inside. I get both from TTVJ.com. I have a two-layer kind of bruch that seems ok, but it is not made anymore so I would just find a decent largish carbon fiber brush (see PJ). I have to admit to being curious about the Big Brush with static ground. Anybody tried it? One addition that I think is helpful is a stylus brush with fluid. I like the Lyra SPT, which comes with a brush. Enjoy and don't stress the vinyl thing! It's easy and fun.
  5. I managed to wait until Christmas to open Riceboy's discs and I was treated to: Jake Shimabukura Walking Down Rainhill and Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau Ho'oluana The Jake is great and I look forward to hearing the Hawaiian stylings of the Makaha Sons! Thanks so much Ricey! Merry Christmas again, everybody.
  6. Merry Birthday Ric! Hope you're staying warm back in the frozen midwest, and that Santa was extra nice on your special day. Cheers!
  7. The salt and lime are part of a fun ritual, but really should be avoided if possible. I do like a little lime wedge on occasion, but the salt I leave for the rim of a real juice, real booze margarita (rocks, of course).
  8. It was a good show even though I ended up going solo because my wife was sick. There was a bit too much shtick at the beginning of the show, and the Douchebag Ensemble was really not my bag, baby, but it was a good time. Wondering if there was as much drag and vinyl clothing at your Raleigh show as in SF...?
  9. Any guitar held up by wires is cunty and stupid.
  10. It's still your birthday, so I will smile and concur. Some really expensive Cuervo does not equal shit juice.
  11. I second what Dan says and Patron is a polished turd. Don't bother if you want to drink real tequila. Mexicans drink Don Julio if they can afford it. Enuf sed.
  12. Congrats indeed! To quote the Who quoting a radio tag line: "Moar music, moar music, moar music! Wonderful Radio London, whoopee!" As for me, I worked until 11:30 or so, drove an hour to retrieve my daughter from a sleepover, came home and immediately fell deep into a way too short nap, then had my wife's family over for dinner. Roast beast, popovers, wine, scotch, proseco, etc., and apple pie a la mode. Did some dishes and cleaned up, now having the rest of the proseco and checkin the internets. Happy happy, joy joy, you'all.
  13. Happy Birthday Ken! Have a good one and don't do anything to piss off Santa. You wouldn't want to blow all the great gear he's bringing you for Christmas.
  14. More like this, is what I had in mind:
  15. I fantasize about a threesome IN vinyl.
  16. I guess you can go semi-fuck yourself.
  17. The purists can go fuck themselves.
  18. What's Christmas without a few pints?
  19. LFF Christmas CD won in the contest. Good stuff Luis!
