He seemed to be the only one to have patience enough to deal with Jim during his downward spiral. LA Woman probably would have never happened were it not to Ray's leadership and persistence. Morrison was always an idol, though the flaws are easily seen these days. But if the band had not had those haunting keyboards courtesy of Manzarek, they never would have achieved legend status.
