HeadAmp Gilmore Lite mk2 Headphone Amp

Recommended Posts

I got a notice that it is up on Massdrop.  The Massdrop pictures seem to show it with a wall wart type supply.  I've already got a Mk I so I didn't pay a lot of attention to it.

it's basically the same power supply as the original Gilmore Lite, but it no longer blocks 3 outlets on a power strip as it has a short AC cord on it, and the European voltage you supply your own power cord for it

are the rubber feet simply adhered on the bottom? id rather ask that here than attract attention on the massdrop thread

Yes, will be coming. It's a super high quality board so will definitely be showing that off. The unit that went to Massdrop had a prototype inside

This guy and the Dynalo mk2 are basically the same amplifier design, correcto? :)

Right, my bad. The mk2 is the Pure Bipolar... Just “Dynalo” is the single ended version with simplified PSU if I’m not mistaken. That’s the one I was referring to. :)

The Lite mk2 should sound like the GSX MK2 in single end but with less refinement due to the lesser power supply.  With a dedicated DPS, the Gilmore Lite MK2 should sound identical to the GS-X MK2 in single end operation.

That is a beauty. So, you can do balanced using a 4pin XLR or using a dual TRS cable?

I'm not sure about dual TRS but those look like combo plugs that also take dual 3-pin XLRs.  Smack me if that was obvious to you, Jim.

I think you're both basically right.  I don't think dual TRS is the goal and Al is correct, those are Neutrik combo jacks that allow for both TRS plugs and 3-pin XLRs.  The front panel says L/SE and R/SE below those two jacks.  And the 4-pin XLR jack is labeled balanced.

Yeah I assumed you could do balanced using dual 3pin xlr. I should have said it explicitly. I was just asking about dual TRS out of curiosity. Anyway, it is Purdy.

I think it's just two SE TRS stereo outputs for "normal" headphones, although I ignore if there's some way to configure them to become an additional way to output balanced signal on two TRS jacks, one per channel.
