Watches

Yeah that's one of the great (or bad, depending) things about watches -- you really can't make a bad decision. Sinn, Omega, and Panerai are all great watches. I really want a Sinn U Black myself.

But I'm only just getting to the point where I'm starting to worry about the movements -- priorly, it's all been about how it looks and how durable the case is.

The smallest watch I wear is a 40mm and I think it is a bit small for my wrist. I really like the big watches but I tend to go with something smaller, less noticeable for a daily beater. That being said it is bonus time again and I intend to buy a watch or two. I have seen some really interesting watches in this thread and the big ones always catch my eye so I will probably lean towards a 46mm size this time.

Let me know if your Seamaster needs adopting.

Man, I can remember now why I stopped buying watches. There are just way too many that I want after reading a bit on the watch forums.
Agreed.

The best advice I can give (and remember from whom this is coming) is, set some guidelines for yourself. Like don't get two watches that look the same, even if they have different movements or whatever. Or a rule I'm going to start laying down for myself is find out what movement is inside -- no cheesy movements.

Dinny, you only want one watch.

Yeah I am definitely not going to go into full collector mode but I am trying to find one or two that I really like and won't look too far out of place in a suit environment. Most of the ones I like are a bit over the top for typical business attire but I am thinking I don't care.

Yesterday I discovered that I really do not even need to go to a watch store to try on the watches I have been looking at as they are everywhere in my office. 4 Panerais, 3 Bell & Ross, 1 Ulysse Nardin Black Ocean (which I wasn't looking at but now really like after trying it on), 1 IWC Aquatimer Chronograph, 2 JLC Master Compressor Diving Chronos, and 1 Hublot Big Bang All Black.

The B&R wear a lot better than I thought they would based on looking at pictures. I really like the JLC and the UN but did not care for the Hublot as I do not want to have to focus on the watch to tell what time it is. It looks really good though.

I'm not sure I know -- I actually need to educate myself on movements. But there are definitely better movements and worse movements.

Jesus. Can I...can I...(stutters)...work with you? The Ulysse Nardin Black Ocean pics in the watch porn magazines always catch my eye, and Hublot Big Bang All Black is one of my grails.

Of course, I'd never get any work done, so nevermind.
