840EVO 1TB for $490+tax. In fact, all 840EVO prices are pretty low right now.

Performance is much better than M500.

I have both 256G 840Pro and 840EVO and I can't tell them apart during daily or intensive use. Benchmark wise, EVO is neck to neck with Pro as well.

P/E cycle, with writing of more than 30gig a day, it should still last you well beyond 100 years before the first sector failure, but controller would have died way before that...

I actually went for the M500 240GB since it was for $135 and I'm intending to do as simple a no-fans no-spin setup as I can.

EDIT: I am aware that the EVO performs better, but the pricing was just right on this.

I also went for the M500, but mainly for the MLC vs TLC difference on general principles. Techreport's ssd endurance test showed that after 100tb written the 840 non-pro started showing increasing reallocated sectors. While 100tb is a lot (I'm showing 7tb written on my M4) I'm still willing to go for a slower drive that has longer durability over the faster drive with shorter durability. IMHO, of course :)

Audioquest Dragonfly DAC for $99 on Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/AudioQuest-DragonFly-Digital-Converter-Version/dp/B00882U782/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2112Y742IOU19&coliid=I1OR15NN8S3MJE

Based on a previous Dragonfly demo at RMAF one year I'd have to say that I have been enjoying the Audioengine D3 more, but this sale puts the dragonfly at $90 cheaper, for now, which I think is worth it. I wouldn't pay full price for one though.

[PS: I just canceled my order because I need another portable DAC like a hole in the head. That just means more available for everyone else, although the price just went up a couple of bux to $100.78 shipped free via Prime]
