I am quite irregular here. was riding my motorbike to Lake City Colorado and back last week; didn't even remember it was my birthday til I got home. I reckon I'll share a bit, how about some pix from my trip? The following is a repeat of a post I did over on advrider.com --- my personal forum of choice --- about my trip down to West Fest, their equivalent of a National Meet. There's a lot of references that you guys won't get, but what the hell, it's easies just to copy the post. For me, it's about throwing yourself face first into the unknown. Thanks, Dean, for being an ADVevent adventurer and taking us all along for the ride; a couple of face plants and a flat are nothing but the chance to recover, and it was a pleasure to help you out. Pix, you say! I started with 900 miles and about 150 of dirt. It did not suck. Went to Lake City first to order booze, and then headed over to Salida for a coupla nights with Duke, Tami, and crew. In the category of "nicest people you ever met" these guys are #1 with a bullet. Workin' the ADVgrill. If anybody deserves a pile of dough to keep up the good work it's these two. Nice call, Jen. :thumb Don't start humming a tune though or you're likely to have an ADVcoloratura thrown down on you. Summertime, and the living is easy. Speaking of slabs of meat, Meathead has a brat for you, right here! He's an arteest, too. Killer sticker! Pansy brought another classic sticker, too. Adways cheap cunt KLR ADVsticker. A classic from the heart. :cry A coupla sweet ladies that'll hand you you ass in a pretty basket. Take a pic, Deb. Ben and Charla make camp for the ADVfamily. Not long after they had to blockade their tent ropes ... I kept falling over them like a dumbass. They really should have known. Charla's cute when she giggles. But she'll punch your lights out if you make her laugh too much. Mark gives Kat some blow job advice as Sonny looks on. Close up of the hot action. Best. Back. Yard. Evar! So, as usual, I go out for a putts around town for some pix of Salida. Here's the Dukesters shop with Tami's two doors down. Then up to the top of Spiral Drive for an overview of town. Lesee ... Duke and Tami's shops are right down there somewhere. Salida is a seriously fun little town; an eclectic mix. This house is just plain sweet. Old Skool, baby! Yup, and eclectic mix of old railroad West meeting dot.com refugee West. Like this guy, "I wants my guns, but I want raygunz!" :yikes :dunno :scratch That's worth a closer look, eh? The next day we road part of the TAT to Lake City. WOW! Colorado roads suck ... NOT! Not many pix 'cuz I was having so much fun but, can't think of a better group of folks to travel 140 miles of dirt road with. I was far too busy handing out or sucking up booze to have taken many pix. Didn't even ride the local passes. My excuse is I had too much good riding getting there, but the truth is I'm old and frail, so really felt the need for daily recuperation for each evenings debauchery. I did saunter up to the mines about 3 miles up for a few pix though. Quick, MotoKat, what does this make you think of? If you look carefully you can see that this outhouse is dangling over a 60 foot cliff on the mine site. They were either shitting down a shaft, or the people at the bottom of the operation got paid crap. Back to town for a couple of pix. Here's a cute church. I love the detail. Some cabins in town. After three days of fun and games it was back to a serious ride home. Again, Colorado does not suck. 'Course, niether does the whole Gread Devide Basin, or the Rockies in general. It looks like you had a killer time, but it's too bad you were out of town because I was in Three Forks and Bozeman last week.
