manaox2
I had an older shuffle at one point, as a grocery store giveaway/prize thing. It was far too fussy about how it synced, and wouldn't allow multiple computers to sync without first deleting everything loaded from another computer. None of my other ipods ever did that, so I lost interest and gave it to my cousin. Too bad you never discovered the python script that would sync whatever you drag and dropped with a double click without itunes after being initialized once. http://shuffle-db.sourceforge.net/

CD44hi
Yikes! Hopefully enough people will express discomfort about the controls in the earbuds stuff to deter apple from trying this in other ipod models....
Dusty Chalk
The cynic in my can't help but wonder why the prices never seem to drop for these devices, yet you can pick up an 8GB thumb drive for like $15 now.You do know that most things are priced on supply and demand, not cost of parts and markup, right? The answer is, "because they can".

grawk
Apple doesn't sell commodities, they sell commercial products. Apple spends money on design and core research that commodity producers don't have to. You don't like the apple product, then fine, buy the korean knockoff (or whatever other product you want). i know. I'm surprised someone else hasnt taken the wind out of its sails tho They have, there are hundreds of other mp3 players that do exactly what you want. For some weird reason, apple keeps outselling them. It must be that their products provide something the others don't.

deepak
Hopefully this buttonless feature moves on to the rest of the ipod line too. Or maybe one button will be all it needs.
Beefy
Or maybe one button will be all it needs. They will start coming with one primary button, plus a Control button that you have to hold down to make the first button do something different. Hopstretch
New version of iTunes released to support the new shuffle. One bit of the release notes that may interest folks here: "You will enjoy noticeable improvements when working with large libraries."
