Hopstretch
Can find absolutely nothing else about this new hawt new box apart from the clip on Simaudio's own site, but thought it was worth posting just to give Dinny a stiffy. Looks dangerous, and expensive. But a kickass (universal?) player with properly implemented digital input would be pretty damn sweet. And eight 32-bit DACs per channel is, like, a whole bucket of bits man!
Deadneddz
Simaudio gear in general is built wonderfully and my unit sounds fantastic:)

j4cbo
Looks like a bog-standard Sabre32 implementation with some fancy marketing terms to describe the Sabre chip.

Pars
I don't doubt that SImaudio stuff is built well, but at their typical prices, not much chance of me ever forking out for one Even if it is effing MAJIC-32 and has a 32-bit Hyperstreamtm uber pissing all over everything I've always wanted to hear a Simaudio Andromeda (though it is probably getting a bit long in the tooth by now). Icarium
Yeah who needs Majic-32 and 32 bit hyperstream uber pissing over my shit. I can easily drink a gallon of milk do the same for nearly free!!!
luvdunhill
Looks like they were trying to market something like Accuphase MDSD processing, without those pesky "technical bits" http://www.accuphase.com/model/pdf/dp-700_e.pdf
Hopstretch
Oh ye of little faith! I still think the category they're trying to define is interesting. Instead of a player that just happens to have digital inputs, it's a DAC that just happens to include a transport. Huge difference, see? Dreadhead
Any idea as to price?
deepak
Their top of the line CDP still has a digital input and is sticking to the trusty PCM1704
Dreadhead
pshhh. dCS is way more expensive.... Stereophile: dCS Scarlatti SACD/CD playback system
Filburt
I like how it almost reads as though the 8 dacs, hyperstream modulator, and asrc are something other than standard equipment on the sabre32. Next they'll be telling us the fact that it has an LCD display is an exotic feature.

Dusty Chalk
I didn't read it that way at all -- I just read it as them trying to advertise the player's features -- so what?
Icarium
Shrug its similar to marketing a high end IcePower module power amp and the marketing literature is centered on the feature set of the modules. What's there to differentiate your implementation of the ess32 chip versus other dacs/cdps? What justifies the high price? Doesn't mean the thing sucks, but it's not particularly informative and when a company does do a badass implementation its comforting when they talk that up rather than just count on the brand name. Smeggy
will it make my crappy MP3s sound better? Right now they suck pretty bad.
Nebby
No, but according to a thread on the other forum, getting some audiophile carpet will do the trick.

Hopstretch
More details. Simaudio MOON 750 DAC / CD Transport No SACD. Doesn't say what sample rates the USB input supports, though there's also a new DAC that apparently does 24/192.
