After many, many years with BAT/Avid/SME YG Acoustics systems this is what my wife and I have spent the last year building for listening to records through. VPI HR-X w/12.7 arm, and VPI ADS power supp

The horror, the horror. Basically this is the final Erno Borbely design. It is a current mode phono stage, where the cartridge looks into close to zero impedance. First stage with parallel J40/K170, a

Meanwhile ...

But 48% of people who bought vinyl last month admit they have yet to play it.

Seven per cent of those surveyed say they do not even own a turntable.

"I have vinyls in my room but it's more for decor. I don't actually play them," Jordan Katende, a student in Manchester, told BBC News.

"It gives me the old-school vibe. That's what vinyl's all about," he added.

I, too, got the Fugees album, but didn't get home til 10, so didn't spin it. Tomorrow there is a Record Store Day pre-party at a local bar that's pretty cool, so I think I'm going to load up some nice unopened stuff and let them play it.

Oh, Record Store Day... anyone going?

Top 3 reasons you know your musical tastes are dated...

1 : You think too many songs today are over sung (Star Search effect).

2 : You DO NOT think Kanye West is a genius.

3 : You always have to remind yourself who the Fugees are.

Here's the new Vinyl Me, Please for May. Weezer - Pinkerton

I was trying to decide between the 4LP deluxe edition or the MFSL edition, but this makes that decision easier, and I'll keep the subscription another month.

VMP is using the same plates from the Mofi release and pressing at RTI.

I have the damn MFSL release already but tempted just to sign up to triple dip.  It's pretty sickening actually now that I am typing it.

Heh, well, don't forget to use my link and I think you may get a discount ;)

Too bad it's not 180gr. I really wish it was pink, though. I don't have enough pink vinyl.

This one is real bad.  The Fugees haven't put out an album in 20 years.

Added a second table (VPI scout 1.1) and a mono cartridge (ortofon quintet mono) I'm running it through my back up phonostage until I can pick up another BAT phono used. WOW, listening to a japenese blue note of Lee Morgan "Candy". Soundstage depth is incredible. There is a sharpness/cleaness to the record I have never heard.  This is one of the better investments involving listening to records I've made. Now to clear a separate shelf for monos only. :)

With all the excitement the previous posted turntable generated, I think another one is in order.

I just picked up another new turntable to play with. It should arrive in a week or two:

Redpoint Model D, Triplanar VII Tonearm, Ikeda IT-407CR1 12" version, another Helius Silver Ruby, Dynavector XV-1T cartridge, Transfiguration Orpheus L cartridge, HRS M3 Base and a Siltech Lake Compass tonearm cable.

And its an interesting color to boot! Right now, I don't care much for the color, but it might grow on me when I get it. If not, I'll take it to a local shop and get it some nice automotive color. Maybe a white or grey or black...might be fun!

Mass loaded design (totally different sound compared to suspended tables). About 260 lbs in total here.
