Do you think people really want to read thread after thread gangbanging rsa or some idiot on head-fi? Even after the most annoying head-fier thread was locked nobody seems to get the message, and instead start threads that either turn into or are indirectly criticizing head-fi or it's members in some way. Do you people think you're so damn better than head-fi? I have news for you, reading your stupid whining about head-fi is worse than just going out and reading head-fi itself. The signal to noise ratio is getting absurd in here. It's an insult to Reks and tkam, who put so much effort into making a better headphone site. I understand that you disagree with various things about the headphone world, but it's pretty obvious everyone here is aware of it already, so stop bitching about it and contribute something constructive. TheSloth Posted September 11, 2006 Report Share Posted September 11, 2006 Problem is that if one starts 'normal' head-fi type threads here, there just isn't the user base to get more than 1 or 2 interested or useful responses. The only kinds of threads that will get any real momentum with only 200 or so members are ones that interest all members, i.e. bad feelings about head-fi (or RSA). Though, I've stopped reading head-fi over the last 2 weeks, except to buy and sell things, so it would be nice to find more things of interest here. But then again, I can't think of anything headphone related to talk about. I've heard basically every headphone available and am not interested in a new amp or source, so I'm pretty much out! Many of us were not aware of certain manufacturing faults of RSA and other manufacturers until they were brought up here. For this information I am grateful. However, I will be honest and say that i've found myself browsing head-case less frequently than head-fi, and not because I think head-fi is inherently better. It's just that although there are idiots, useless threads, fanboyism, and censorship on head-fi I find more substance there. I am aware that this is a new forum so substance in head-fi's favour is a given (more threads available, more members, more activity) . Nevertheless, there is some truth in the fact that when I browse head-case I do see alot of complaining and controversy over the politics of head-fi. Not to say that this aspect should be removed from head-case entirely, but as stated above, it can get to a point where things become overbearing. I was hoping that head-case would be a better head-fi in the sense that we would be able to say what we want (which we can, and this is good) and have the types of discussions related to the hobby we are all so interested in, without abusing the freedom to 'express' our concerns. Unfortunately, I cannot judge others because I haven't given too much to this forum in the area of useful information or threads, but will seriously consider doing so if I see threads that warrant a useful reply. However, as stated, there just isn't the user base here. This forum is basically a 'clone' (here I use clone loosely, moreso implying that the main topic is the same) of the big site. IMO, this forum will never get the userbase that Head-Fi has. This is good, and this is bad at the same time. Good, in the fact that there are far less idiots here, bad in that many less users will ever see these topics. When it comes down to opinions, I take this forum's thoughts far more to heart. I posted my "Should I sell it all" thread here for a reason: I trusted what you all would tell me. So far, (minus the ear infection I just got the other day) my ER4P has been spectacular. Where as, my first post on H-F... I was reccomended to purchase the Senn HD212 I do agree about the RSA comment, though. Head-Fi is ALL fanboys regarding Ray Samuels. Before lurking the IRC channel, and reading this, I though Ray made awesome products. After looking at some of the data and comments provided by a few individuals, I have formed my own opinion about him, which I could not have done on Head-Fi. I'm also VERY against the governmental aspects of Head-Fi including its ruler. For a site where the admin is pulling profits, the product sure is of sub-par quality. I admit that Ass-raping the head-fi morons is starting to get old, which is why I haven't done it in a while. RSA however, deserves every bit of abuse he's getting. His designs, if we can be generous enough to call them that, are flawed at best and a goddamn safety hazard to boot. The bitching stays in the Casino and RSA threads and most of the rest is pretty much good content. Take a look through the Headphone forum, the Amp forum, Speakers, DIY, Sources, it's all filled with good stuff. Now go look on Head-fi, same fucking threads for the 10 millionth time, over & over & over, getting worse with each day. "Best $50 headphone", "I just got a XXXXXX and it's the best shit ever!", "I want an amp for my HD-650", "I need a $200 DAC", "where do I get OPA627's?", same shit every day for the last year or two. Not to mention the fucktards & shills. Great signal to noise there. I'm lucky if I can find a single worthwhile thread on the first page over there. Personally I don't really see the virtue of spending time on message board which is seemingly dedicated to whining about / commenting on a different message board but as always different strokes or different folks. What's the point? The difference is that I don't make every other post a complaint or saturate the forum with criticizms of head-fi. Since "that thread" was locked, the only thing that you mentioned in your first post that's happened since were further discussions of the technical merit of the B52 and someone who rarely posts here bragged about pissing of a 15 year old Head-Fi'er. I guess I don't see the problem. The previous discussion was primarily limited to one thread, and there's been very little since IMO. I for one would love to see enough traffic to keep discussions going, but it's just not here yet. So people feel the need to vent... What's the big deal? There's not a whole lot of browsing that can happen here... it's a few posts an hour and rarely do I need to look past the Recent Threads at the first page. So again, it doesn't bother me. I realize this is public domain, and run by a private party, so free speech doesn't apply... but one of the main complaints in this thread and in general concerning head-fi, is that we are NOT allowed to speak our minds. We are censored there, and now we are censored here. It is up to the discression to the mods what is considered 'annoying' and therefore deserved the lock. Irony... It's real simple, that thread was locked because we do not want headcase to turn into a place that is used soley for the purpose of bitching about head-fi and its members. That thread was leading heacase down that path and I won't let it happen. Also you may have noticed an increase in the number of informative threads since that thread was locked. Coincidence?
