Dusty Chalk
But still sombre...has a vaguely Kurt Weill feel to it. Please also check out Young Gods play Kurt Weill. https://www.discogs.com/The-Young-Gods-The-Young-Gods-Play-Kurt-Weill/release/71430 Oooh, ooh, ooh, I just figured out why the title track sounded so familiar -- I heard him sing it ~7 years ago:

Dusty Chalk
Notwist -- everything after 12 (so, 12, Shrink, Neon Golden, The Devil, You + Me, Close to the Glass, Messier Objects, Superheroes, Ghostvillains & Stuff, Johnny and Mary, and Different Cars and Trains)...just because I needed some happy music, and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong was a little too upbeat. jose
IMHO Mike's best record.
Dusty Chalk
He’s one of my heroes, so I don’t have a favourite. Incantations is probably one of my most frequently revisited. Also Killing Fields , Five Miles Out, and QE2.

I have these records too but whenever I want to hear something from Mike, I unconsciously choose Ommadawn. It's very relaxing

Dusty Chalk
Listening/watching Calexico play with an orchestra -- here is the whole playlist -- the preview shows the first song, but I'm currently on "Fortune Teller" which is jaw-droopingly beautiful:

Torpedo
Traeben - PUSH (2012) It's available on Tidal. I found the band watching guitar instructional videos on YouTube. 2
Dusty Chalk
Lady Gaga I was in El Rico Pollo and I was enjoying what was playing, so my friend Googled it ("OK Google, what is playing right now?"). Don't know which album, so far the two I've listened to are fairly generic, yet perfectly pleasant. The one I heard was more Garbage-y. Going to stop and listen to Traeben to clear my palette...er...palate. Those are homonyms, aren't they?

Dusty Chalk
Wasn't in the mood, needed something slightly more 'me' and energetci, so went back to my Notwist/13&God playlist (every time I hear 13&God, I think of the time I was on tt.fm with two of the guys from Themselves, which is the other half of 13 & God).
