Hey Head-Case, what's your bandwidth like?

Birgir's is pretty impressive... must not be that much to do in Iceland

Internet porn and booze, what else is there to live for? ;)

The real reason is that we are tech mad to a fault. The town I live in even footed the bill to connect every home with fiber, slicing open every street in town.

That 22kpbs rate is because of comcast's speed boost feature. my normal download is about 15. I think that the boost is for the first 20 mb of each download. just don't get me started on the 250gb per month download limit. I've hit 240 twice without realizing how close I'd gotten till I paid the bill. Damn you BBC hd documentaries.

I agree. I've gotten pretty close to the 250GB a few times... I read the acceptable usage policy and apparently if they warn you once and you go over again within a 12 month period, they cancel your service and you're banned for a year. But at least comcast at home is faster than the internet at work...

Yes indeed, Comcast does have a 250GB cap.

But the trick with limits is not to exceed them :)

Funny story regarding Comcast and their cap.

I mentioned the cap to a co-worker, and comcasts data useage tool. He was unaware of this, as he never checked his comcast user page / email.

It turned out he was a big fan of sabnzb / sick beard / xbmc etc.

So when he was contacted by comcast complaining of over 1TB / month usage ...

He was told that if he breached > 250GB a month again within the next year there could be suspension of service ...

so we checked his usage on the 6th of the month and it was already up to 500GB ... Ooops!

It all ended well, as he has (/ was forced to ) upgraded to their uncapped business internet ( for more money + being forced to rent their modem)

Luckily he has a "Business website", and said that all that traffic most be due to the "network testing" and Linux ISO's he transfers / downloads.

Like him I prefer my Linux ISO's in 720p :)

No, no, no, I do! Still marginally better than dial-up.

You want third world, you got it! Here it is...

Well, here we are in not-quite-in-the-21st-century England. This is 6 miles from Oxford, so hardly hicksville.

The excuse is that we are more than 4km from the BT exchange.
