Is the remaster better?

Wow. Look at that brick wall.

That being said, I find with a lot of recent releases the vinyl release gets a way better (read: more dynamic) mix. Maybe once someone gets their hands on a vinyl copy they can report back?

What is that? Chalkboard font?

And yeah, some people don't like the sound of their debut.  Too much reverb and sounds too much like arena rock.  I say screw that.  They NAILED the sound for that album.  Fit the mood perfectly.  I quite like the plain US CD issue, but I am sure the Z 47857 vinyl ripped by someone skilled would sound amazing.

I don't know, I'd have to A/B them -- I'm still hearing some serious clipping, but (a) I'm still listening to it, so it is listenable, and (b ) I'm listening on a completely different system than I did then, so it be being euphonized.

Cheers for doing that, Graham.

Thought I'd compare it to Snakes and Ladders -- which, although very compressed, is still quite listenable.  I consider S&L to be compressed the way we would expect a contemporary rock'n'roll record to be -- perhaps a little harsh.  Vapor Trails Remixed is still worse.
