since the inclusion of myClassA Diy amp concoction, i agree 101% with everything you're saying about the W5k esp. on ancilliary sensitivity. hmmm based on your impressions, it mite seem that the 404+006 combo isnt much of an upgrade. man...this sux the ducks! so what should i aim for interms of having real upgrade in electrostatics without going ape on the bank acct?

hmmm the D5k i tried had no noticeable QC issues (to my eyes) and it was super lite & comfy. its much smaller than it looks and i'd seriously consider it for a portable OTG rig. FWIW its much more comfy than a W5k. Again my encounter with it was far too brief and i think the D5k+hornet mite not be the best match but i realy like it. IMO its not the last word in transparency (its most definetly colored) but it mite take the most fun & musical award in my books.

righto thxs guys. seems like a T1 + SR 404 is the sweetspot plus it mite even save me some major moolah at it. now i better sharpen up the ebay search button - hope i can score some gooddeals. btw elephas...im currently using a W5k paired with my own DIY hi current amp concoction (sounds great to my ears and only missing some lower bass slam but i think thats not a W5k trait). question is how would a SRM T1 + SR404 combo compare SQ wise to the above stated W5k?

had a 15min encounter with a D5k amped by a hornet not too long ago. must say that its a real grooverlizer set of cans. bass is HUGEE DEEP & IMPACTFULL. reminds me of an HD650 on steroids with even bigger bassballs and fun upfront mids/presentation. male vocals were kinda nasally though (prolly coz of the bumped up upper bass) and mite be due to inadequate amplification but i like it. i'd get these over a HD650 or top Grados for a fun slamming goodtime. are the D2ks very similiar?

1st post in your esteem forum and based on all i've been reading, i like it! seems like no BS hypocrites showoffs are welcome or they get their comeupperance ! hope u guys take it easy on a noob like me though. that said, im seriously thinking of getting a taste of this here stax electro-cutes cans after reading all the joyous reports. due to my very tiny budget, which system would be best? 1. 3050a sig system or 2. 4040 II sig system? theres 400 reasons why i should go for the cheaper rig but hell...if the diff is real and big enuff, mites well go for broke. am thinking of gettin it from Bluetin btw. O and i read the 6moon comparo which says that the 30s are the better deal and dont lose out much sonically. what says u stax sages?
