December 10, 201213 yr I recently picked up a wireless charger for my phone that works well aside from the annoying inductor whine. I was thinking of dropping some hot glue on it to dampen the noise, but thought maybe folks here might have a better suggestion of what to use. Any suggestions on a better damping material than hot glue? Thanks
December 10, 201213 yr Can you return it for a different one? If its normal for those things to make some noise and potting the inductors usually solves it: Devcon 2-ton epoxy. It will never melt and should flow into voids better than hot glue.
December 11, 201213 yr I have only gotten whine from my wireless charger once, when the tablet wasn't sitting on it quite right but just close enough. I'd replace, pot if not an option. Edited December 11, 201213 yr by cetoole
December 11, 201213 yr Author I'm thinking of potting mainly because it seems that this is a common issue with this model (and it seems other chargers have the same or similar issues...ticking or whining) but it's also annoying that they're sold out everywhere. It took nearly three weeks to get this one, so I'm reluctant to hope for a replacement in a reasonable timeframe. Thanks Ari for the tip, I'll give that stuff a try.
