I lust after them, but I have to admit to never having heard them.

I've heard the following: in the early editions with the Beryllium tweeter, they just put a Beryllium tweeter on the old box. With the newer ones, they re-engineered the crossover to compliment the tweeter more.

Unfortunately, I do not know where that dividing line is.

EDIT: no, wait a minute, I did hear one pair -- either the novas or the divas or something -- their entry level pair in the Utopia line -- they were divine. It only had three drivers and a very slender footprint. Unfortunately, it was north of US$3K, and was more than I was willing to spend at the time. If I had known how cheap of a price the salesperson was quoting me, I woulda bought them in a heartbeat and flipped 'em.
