I don't know if the idea would be frowned upon, but there are some good things to be found on Craigslist that are not local, and many of us have run into them, so the obligatory "someone buy this for me" thread is made.

Just wondering if there is a way to search users' locations to facilitate who we can contact for help.

Might be hard to implement but I could have used something like this for a few purchases.

Thinking maybe something like a thread in a non-public location that people could opt-in to add location/contact information?
