January 4, 201115 yr Here's one for the IT guys: I share a printer between 4 computers on a network and I want to monitor how many copies are printed from each of them. It seemed to me like a rather simple and common thing to do, but I've spent the last hour googling for a free solution to the problem and apparently it doesn't exist. There are many enterprise solutions, but I won't pay 100$ to do such a simple task on my home network. Have I overlooked something? Edited January 4, 201115 yr by GPH
January 4, 201115 yr I don't really have any answers myself, but some more info on the setup would probably help those who do. Is the printer directly connected to the network or one of the computers? What OS are the computers running?
January 4, 201115 yr Author Windows 7 everywhere, and I can either set the printer individually on each computer, or install it on one computer and share it with the others. It's a wireless HP laser printer. I can get page count in the printer properties, but that's the total page count of the printer.
January 5, 201115 yr Just a quick look turned up the following: PaperCut Print Logger - a free print log monitor for Windows - PaperCut Not sure if it meets your needs or not.
