  1.

So...the chair got lung cancer? :D

Should've seen it coming, since the guy is a realityTV producer.

After reading through a bunch of the comments on that thread, I'm really wondering whether any of this even happened at all.  Guy has a history of making up this kind of stuff, and it would then be plausible that he or someone else could have also made up the Diane back story as well.

Yup, it was all a hoax.

  2. I actually went for the M500 240GB since it was for $135 and I'm intending to do as simple a no-fans no-spin setup as I can.

EDIT: I am aware that the EVO performs better, but the pricing was just right on this.

I also went for the M500, but mainly for the MLC vs TLC difference on general principles. Techreport's ssd endurance test showed that after 100tb written the 840 non-pro started showing increasing reallocated sectors. While 100tb is a lot (I'm showing 7tb written on my M4) I'm still willing to go for a slower drive that has longer durability over the faster drive with shorter durability. IMHO, of course :)

  3. Looking at the forum it looks like they meant the black friday promo to only be for original pulse backers and not just anyone that is a "geek force member". Some folks thought they could order one of the black friday units in the place of their original backed item and others somehow contributed the default $6/$7/$8 contribution. Overall it's quite a snafu.

  4. Amazon.com lists it as an import and not a true US release, so that's probably why it's so much. Wonder if there's supposed to be a US release?

edit: doh, just read the rest of your post

  5. I have to get out on a ride tomorrow to try to get in some kind of riding shape for this Sebring trip. I have not been on the bike in what seems forever. Sunday looks pretty damn cold, high 20s +20MPH winds would be pretty rough.

I've been mountain biking a lot, but not much road biking. Hopefully I'm in okay-ish shape for Sebring :P

  6. Actually I'm probably going to surprise this group, because the feel of the knob has never been that important to me. It's all about the back of the unit for me. Is it user friendly? Easy to plug into and unplug? Is it wide or narrow?

Yes, yes, I dare say the back of the unit is much more important! Of coarse this is all relative...In my world if you happen to already have a fantastic knob, then finding another fantastic knob seems less important. On the other hand, if all you have is an undersized, small diameter, unsubstantial feeling knob, then I quite understand that the quest to find the perfect knob takes on a higher significance. Either way, whether it's the front of the unit or the back of the unit that holds more appeal for you, it's more important that we all respect each others individual preferences, and come together for the greater good!

I do believe I see what you did there. Bravo :)

  7. I upgraded to the 2013 Nexus 7 so I now have a spare 2012 Nexus 7 (16GB). If you don't mind an older generation tablet I'm sure we can work something out (and I could flash KitKat on it if you want) ;)

I haven't experienced the touchscreen issue, but some folks have:

  8. Someone managed to clip my hitch mount bike rack while backing out of their parking space adjacent to mine. Didn't even leave a note or anything either >:(. Just came back to my car to see that the trays were rotated in the completely wrong direction, which sheared off the metal bit that held the tray in place.

I gotta say though, that I'm impressed with the 1up rack. The only damage seems to be the underlying tray that holds the rails, which seems to be bolted on, if I can get a replacement from 1up it should be an easy fix since everything is bolted together.

  9. Anyone have the Filson carry on bags or the laptop bags. My POS Coach bag is coming unsewn again so I am looking to replace it with something capable of surviving more than 4 months without going in for service. I think it would be nice if I could carry the carry on bags with laptop, etc. for travel but I am not sure I could make any of the carry on bags work that way.

It's falling apart again already?  ??? Wow.

  10. W2799 and W2893 seem almost identical but the W2893 appears to have a slightly thicker jacket (by 1.6mm/0.063") and a bit more shielding, so it looks like it'll be a touch thicker and heavier (relatively).

I haven't tried the W2799 but I have used the W2893 and it's definitely more flexible than the Canare that I used.

Both are a bit of overkill for a KSC75, you could just look at one of the simple two conductor mogami cables for even more weight savings :)
