  1. The Classics Edition is significantly more aggressive than the standard Domane fit. IIRC, the head tube on the Classics' is almost shorter than the H1 Madone.

I'm not sure the Madone is that much more aero than the new one, the primary difference is the rear brake location.

  2. Watch out, the SL models are all H2 fit, you have to drop bank to get an SLR with an H1 fit. The SLR 6 through SLR 9 have H1 or H2 fit options (as does the standalone SLR frame at 690gr and 4200$), but the SLR 10 (that we all know and love) is H1 only.

I'd love to try an H1 Domane, but not sure about this. Does anyone know if this will be taking over the Madone line?

I'm not looking to buy one, but thanks for the heads up :) I don't think the Domane has different fit options, but when I tried the stock Domane it was far too relaxed for me. It's one of the reasons why I ended up going with the Classics Edition...

My guess is that it'll eventually take over the Madone line, there just too much overlap between the new lineup and the Madone lineup.

  3. Wow, didn't realize the lowest models were still carbon. Nice touch that they still call it an ultralight frame: "Ultralight 300 Series OCLV Carbon, ride-tuned performance tube optimization, E2, BB86.5, 3S chain keeper, DuoTrap compatible" :P

  4. Jeeze, I thought for sure they would've finished the Geek Out orders given how ridiculously long they worked on that stupid survey. Agreed with the Pulse's, pretty sure they haven't started delivery on those. I'm quite glad I managed to get my refund, even if that took a fair amount of hassle to get processed.

  5. So they first launched the Wave and then now they're launching the Source...all before completing delivery of all pre-ordered Pulses. They also seemed to completely fudged the processing of their orders, requiring a significant amount of time to "develop" a survey system so they can figure out who ordered what. Quite the snafu they have going on.

  6. Grats Haj!

Today I got trained on how to use a nice laser engraver. I think I'll have some fun with it in the future :D The table is 40"x28" and specs say it can hold up to 200lbs, though I'm not sure what you'd want to engrave that weighs that much...

Really fun ride for the most part, other than not being geared for the rain. Ironically I had a rain shell at the beginning, but dropped it off at aid station 2 because it had warmed up and felt good enough that I figured I could ride in the wet without issue. I figured wrong.

Short clip of the delightful rain:

Riding on gravel is noisy...so turn down your volume for that video. It's also a bit long (13min) since it's the full uncut footage, the fun descent lasts till the 4min mark or so, after that it's a lot of side to side camera action from the angling of the bike to slog up the long climb.

And a pic of me going up one of the hills :P

  9. Started dumping rain on a 7 mile long descent, so I bailed on the ride when I reached the rest stop. Never thought I'd have to worry about cold shivers on an event in June, go figure. Still got 85 miles and 10317ft of elevation change in.

  10. I did 30 miles of the century ride last year.

I am hoping to do better this year ;)

It was a last minute thing last year as i got a call from a friend that his wife was not going the day before.

I took the steel Serotta with a compact crankset and 12-25 in the back. I was really hurting for a 28 in the back. Ha ha

This year i will stack the deck a bit as I am taking a CF bike with compact/12-30... :P

The climbing takes place within through initial 70 miles. This year the route is a bit different because of some road work. No Antietam.

Having said that i don't think i will be able to keep pace with you guys.

    .....

I'm bringing a compact/11-32 for the Diabolical Double, so you're not going to hear anything from me regarding your compact setup :D

  11. The main problem being that glass alone costs a whole lot more than asphalt and on top of that just regular wear and tear from cars will wreck the efficiency of the panels (assuming they don't completely die). There's simply a lot of other places you can place solar panels which would be much more appropriate than the road.
