Speaking of "nicking" if a PS1 ever gets a ding in it Grado will not replace it with a newer one as they are all out of those parts.Don't ask me how i know.

I dont know if my Buffalo needed break in or what but the sound has improved noticeably. The Buf still doesnt have the bass punch and overall dynamics of the zap filtered dacs but the overall refinement is so easy on the ears and the realism in the midrange is spooky. THe Buf sounds fantastic with the Millet Starving Student driving Alessandro MS2s .... with an Enigma Audio digital cable and Enigma Audio Copper ICs providing the connections.
Any of that grain present and about how many hours has it gone through?

I think this is just because they are John Grado's and are new. There was a PS-1 listed on Audiogon (by one of waadragon's many screenames) for around $2600.

It's the same guy selling them on craigslist and has a couple pair of HP-2's as well.I would pick them up if i had the cash.

i would suggest trying to get an Extreme, instead, if you are going to go the SP route.
I owned one for quite some time and i preferred it over my MPX3 SE but there was something about that PPX3 with 5687's which was just go great with grados.Out of all the amps i have let go that is the only one i regret selling.On the bad side the amp would get very hot so an upgraded xformer is a must upgrade.

If you are referring to the driver versions they are HP-1000
doesn't sound like it.Ya it is not the amp i would like to get but it is a temp until i find a PPX3 SLAM.

the SB3 as a transport can be significantly upgraded if modded to directly tap the i2s output. I had the chance to A/B these configurations and it was quite impressive.
Does Boulder offer this in their mods?

Maybe she is freaked out that too many cords or electricity could turn into a fire hazard,so if that is her reason then maybe talking to her if you can use that conditioner could be the thing.

Was there ever a ballpark figure given on how much the solid state amp will go for?
There are at least two new tube designs coming .... I know because I have already have paid for them .... and picked the tubes. Again, completley new designs with different tube types, new chassis design and ultra high power. I POSSIBLY have a special version of the Extreme in the works too. Income tax return .... please come soon.
Good thing i held on getting the Extreme.I kind of had a feeling that something else was going to show up.Still an Extreme sounds mighty good.
When you say"special" version of the Extreme i am going to assume that this is the part where to give tons of details so that us folks can begin the pre order

.Also you can still if you desire to get it so you can have both 6/12v options setup.3) I found the 6BX7GT to be a very great hard hitting tube that is just awesome for rock as i just discovered today
.I did not find it to have a great a soundstage as the 6BL7's.

I have been tempted to try out the very same dac but they get snatched up on Audiogon so quick and they are always well over $1k.I hear good things about it though.
