[Headphile X-1 and Cherry Bomb]

The X-1 is basically that though only the shell is Beyer. I really wanted a way to adjust the driver to virtually any depth at will, this is what's come of that (along with comfort and eventual good looks).

The Cherry Bombs are a one piece, all wood deep chambered, pre fitted with a top class Grado driver that will fit on an unmodded Grado band. They will/should sound better than modded HF-1's. I may possibly offer them just like that (and complete), no cable, no band, just slip them on your current band and plug in a cable. Then again, I may just keep a pair myself and leave it at that.

Both are just proto's that I thought I'd share. I also am going to make an electrostatic/dynamic combo which can probably double as a surround sound can. Speaking of surround, that proto pair I made out of an old Pioneer quad set is too good not to expand on one of these days. Soundstage almost too good for headphones

They can start out with whatever driver, but not changed later. They are a user tweakable hybrid. You light Cherry bombs with a match and they go bang, haha... Once I get farther along on both, it will make more sense.

The latch is bigger and plenty adequate compared to the wimpy music box type latch on the later version.

Them thar Ebony ones are just about out the door (tomorrow or Monday?, one of the two), woohoo... I figured out I have just enough for one more pair in Black, since someone has already inquired fairly seriously. While I probably won't have pure black Ebony again anytime soon, I should have another variety within a few months. Getting it thick enough is not easy to find. I think MJG asked me about the first day HF-1's came out if Ebony was an option and a few times after before I caved, haha...

Me too on both counts. Maybe it's because we remember the days when competition against teams like Russia was a substitute for war. If we can't nuke 'em, at least beat 'em in the Olympics.

I'm gonna take the Zen approach to it and say it was fate- Grawk and I both have modded HF-1s waiting with Headphile, both of us get banned for posting in the same Sale Forum thread, both of us received bad karma for getting rid of our HF-1s in the first place, etc - it's fate!

I thought it was pretty wild, thus the poll thread. I was tempted to post in the for sale thread about the possibility of a reuninion then thought, <no discussion> and remembered it wasn't long ago someone got panties in a bunch about doing just that. Since the "burn 'em" is in the poll lead, I will get a new bottle of propane for my torch and pick out a nice spot in the woods <just in case>.
