  1. What truly classifies a noob? Less than 3 years experience with hi fi audio? Less than 10k spent on equipment? I'm not disagreeing with what some have posted, just wondering if there is some way to know ones not a noob anymore.
  2. Thing is, I'm looking for specific opinions here. Every single thing I've ever purchased, I've done extensive research on or I would not have bought it. I don't want any hand-outs so to speak. If I didn't value the opinions of people here, I would not have registered. I think there is some serious audiophiles here, with vast knowledge. With me being "somewhat" new to this field, input is welcome as google and the search function only goes so far.
  3. n3erdling, you like milk, I like turtles. Watch this video and tell me you didn't fucking laugh. http://www.youtube.com/user/Jonowl#p/u/0/yRA9bJomWB0
  4. You guys are ruthless, I understand that. Given that, can I get an example of how a new user to these forums is to post? Should I shut up until I can afford a 5,000 dollar amp, and multitudes of headphones, so I can know how everything sounds? Or, should I lurk around, and stab in a post here and there until I can get upto 800 (after 2 years) and start laying into new people like myself? Sorry for trying to start a conversation. And, yes I'm fully aware of the differences between head fi and here, as to why I even lurked and eventually even registered. I like to expand my knowledge and read multiple people's opinions, but it seems you guys are angry wolves ready to chomp on a rabbit with a broken leg.
  5. I've registered recently, but lurked long before creating an account. I do see the amount of spam / troll threads, and I want you guys to know I'm not an asshat. Give me a chance to be a contributing member before you all throw me under the bus.
  6. Perhaps you should be a little more accommodating to new members, rather than lash out. I never said I was 'bugging' my friend, as you think I was. I merely asked him to listen, and only one time. I've lurked here for a long time (over a year) I wanted to break the ice by creating a thread, and it seems to have gotten alot of attention. If I never created this thread, would we all be having so much fun now? I think not. Anywhoo, I'm really enjoying my new D2000's, more than I thought I would after reading around here alot. I know most of you guys don't hold them in very high regard, but compared to my ad700's and 595's, they're quite a treat. Am I allowed to defend myself? I don't want another vacation?
  7. Perhaps, you should have read the whole thread, and maybe you would understand. It drives me nuts when people only read the first post, and then spout out.
  8. In my trolling, I was trying to fit in, as I did read the PM, and I was trying to have a thick skin so to speak, but maybe it was done in the wrong fashion. I want to be a contributing member. I'm not an abrasive person =) Saying that, I just picked up a set of Denon D2000's yesterday, and I'm enjoying them. My source is not optimal (PC, Xfi out) but I plan on upgrading it around Christmas time to perhaps a Xonar. I'm not sure I'm ready yet to dump alot of cash onto a decent Dac. I'm using a Glow Audio Amp One, but I want to get some new tubes in the next little bit. I think the stock Chinese tubes are not the best. The Denons are now my 3rd set of cans, as I have Senn 595's, Audio Technica AD700's, and now the Denons. I may try some AKG's, or Shures next. Not sure where I'm at yet with Grado, as I've read they're quite in your face and not quite that comfortable.
  9. This is an honest post. I think that most people that appreaciate high fi, are people that have given it a chance. The majority of people, slap on a good set of cans or buds, and says "yeah so?" I notice this with the majority of my friends. I do have a few however that appreciate good headphone audio.
  10. I've been into mid hi-fi the last few years. I used to think my Logitech Z-5500's were the best things on the planet. Now, that I've gotten into decent headphones, I know the difference. Would it be a fair assessment to say that cheap / entry level headphones turn everything into a blended / muddy mess? I've found with going up a little bit in the scale of equipment that my music listening experience has greatly increased, mainly because the you can pick out where the sounds come from, and it's separation etc. (as opposed to a grinded blend of sound) How do you explain this to a friend that rocks ipod buds?
  11. I'm very fiesty. Spritzer, you fell for my trap lol.
  12. burn in hell Nebby, way to take things out of context.
  13. Go back in your cage monkey, and fling crap at someone else.
