Not too much for such a repair, hm?

Yea, I'd imagine it took a reshell so the price seemed reasonable. Still would rather it have lasted longer than that before requiring any repair though.

For the folks that have needed multiple repairs...

Are you kinda rough on your IEMs?

Seems like a lot of problems for such an expensive product.

I'm thinking about the 13, 16, Roxanne, or Angie.

I sent my 13's back after roughly 1.5 years of use due to the mid driver on my left unit not working. I asked what happened and they said moisture damage. Paid $155 including shipping both ways for the repair.

  3. I'd go cuckoo for the perpetual calendar in the 1st photo, but I'd have to sell everything to buy one.  But I'm not sure about the second watch with the off center dials, although I do like this Longines with a "different" layout.

The 1st pic retails for $84,000 I think. It's something one only dreams about.

I'm a huge fan of the Lange 1 (2nd pic), but when I held it in hand, a lot of the appeal just vanished. I don't think I like the platinum version, looks dull.

  4. I went to the Lange event a few months back. It was awesome to be able to see their collection and try everything on. But now it's the only watches on my mind and I'm no where near able to afford one of them. Sometimes I wish I didn't go, but other times it gives me the drive to work harder so that I can afford one one day.

Here's 2 pics I took with my phone (wish I brought my camera).

  5. Very happy with mine, although I still wear my older one often to prevent wear and tear on the new one.

The 2500D has a 3-level coaxial escapement that is improved over the previous version, and wont get gummed up as easily as the 2500C with 2-level coax.

This makes the 2500 movement closer to the 8500 in-house movement, although the 2500D is still a highly modified ETA 2892 (which in itself is capable of meeting COSC specs and competing with the Rolex 3135 depending on the grade and finish).

A shot of the 42mm Explorer II from my trip to NC last December.

Thanks for the info! I was curious to what grawk was referring to as the watch I posted has the 8400 movement.

  6. Yea I paid for them yesterday and didn't really know what to expect until I actually read the site. It's just much longer than I expected. ACS is a few avenues from my office and I thought about going there to try out their line since it only takes a few days to make but I'm kind of lazy and don't feel like going there.

  7. So I had the luxury to try out a bunch of them just now. Here are my thoughts, I'm just a normal guy who likes music and a little quality sound. Very unrefined hearing, lol. And I'll probably describe half of this shit poorly/wrong.

All of this was straight off my Samsung Galaxy S4 as that's what I'll mostly use it with. I sometimes listen with IEM's on my Stello DP-200, but that's more for my HF-2 and HD-650's.

So Samsung Galaxy S4 with V0/320 kbps mp3's ranging from dubstep, deep house, rock, rap, chinese pop/ballad.

JH 13 Pro (universal silicon) - Amazed me with how low it went. I felt it in my stomach. I loved it. But I felt it lacked a bit of clarity. These would be the ones if not for that.

JH 16 Pro (universal foam) - Too bassy for me. Sounds like the 13's but with additional bass. But even with that said, I found these to be very fun to listen to. I think I spent the most time with these, even though I had issues with both ends of the spectrum.

JH Angie (universal silicon) - I tried these with the bass level at 12 (right in the middle). Crisp and clear, great start! But then I felt the bass wasn't... controlled. So I turned the bass down to the lowest setting. Reminded me of the Ety sound where I wish there was some punch. Turning the bass levels felt like I had bass boost from an old 90's boom box. Not cool for $1,300 price tag.

UE 18 Pro (universal foam) - A bit less clarity up top than the Angie, but better than the 13's. The lower end reminded me of my Triple-fi 10 Pro's, flabby bass. It's deeper, but still flabby.

That's all the time I had and I didn't want to commit > $1,000 based off any of those impressions, even if it's not my own money. I'm going to be picking up the JH-13 Pro, JH Angie and UE 18 Pro's tomorrow to take home for the weekend to spend some more time with.

As for now, I'm leaning towards the JH 13 Pro's. I am also curious how the universal fit of these affects them.

  8. Now I just need bigger wrists.

    I totally know the feeling... I'm 6'1" with 6 1/4" wrists. Bitch wrists. =[

I took a talk to the Omega boutique store on 5th AVE earlier this week to see first hand the new-ish Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial. Beautiful watch, I'm a fan of faux patina. I originally wanted to get a vintage but with the vintage costing more than the homage, I think I maybe going with the latter. It's a bit thick for me though.

I'll give it some thought before making a decision.

  9. I've been holding off from getting ciem's out of sheer laziness but am finally going to Musicians Hearing Solutions in Flatiron to try a few different models out. I'm so happy there's a store in NYC allows me the opportunity to do this. Even though I'm not spending my own money for this, I felt crippled by the sheer amount of choices.
