  1. Very nice revision of the boards. Being able to source all the parts from a single vendor is a big plus. :)

I've just done with huge schoolwork and will be pretty relaxed for a couple of months to do another run of group buy, if that really happens. Been planning for ordering a huge stock to keep the price as low as possible but haven't got chances yet.

I also found a local source for custom made EI-core or toroidal transformers. They are very well-made and all built by hands, not machine, so utmost care is guaranteed. I would just bring the psu board and try with every single transformer to make sure it works perfectly. A group buy for transformers+boards and ship in a single package would save a lot of time and cost. :)

  2. Ok, I'll bite, Tho i'ma not building a dynahi.

What is with the superimposed LT1021 and the LM4040 ? One on each side of the pcb?

    Also the "blacked-out" psu 'lytics.

Are they placed on opposite sides of the pcb, or just use extra insulation over the solder-resist, or ??? ?

Please excuse the seriously stupid questions, just curious...

    1. Use either of them.

    2. Take a look at the revised KGSSHV psu.

  3. Yup, I used them on most of my amps.  Tracked down the data sheet at some point and they are rated at 500V.

Good to hear that. I did see the 500v rating but not totally sure if it's trustworthy enough...

The JAE looks great for the money. For the T2 or KGSSHV level, best ones you can score is the ITT Cannon, even more bulky and heavy duty than the Amphenol.

I am using some Japanese made connectors for the T2. They are just as good as the Amphenol but a bit cheaper. Adding a nice mil spec sleeve will make some bad-ass umbilical cables.

  4. A one off dac would also make it much harder to dismiss the source as something it isn't.  We might do a Mafia dac one of these days as we have a very good I/V stage for it...

Exactly what I have been hoping for. :) With the advent of more and more excellent ES9018 DAC modules, all I actually need is a top of the line, cost no matter IV stage, along with a KG-trademark PSU.
