  1. For the first time, my headphone bag (with Thunderpants) was selected for additional screening. No hassles, just an additional screening step. The bag is packed so full of electronics gear including a Nook Color that I was not real surprised.
  2. What kind of handmade amps? I am planning on making a battery powered hybrid amp, more for a fun exercise than anything serious for use, if the tube board ever gets to me from the place I ordered it from.
  3. Luckily I haven't run into any issues thus far. The whole bag goes as is into the scanner. So far I haven't even had to get a hand search, knock on wood... The isolation on Thunderpants is superb, which makes them great for travel (and work). Only drawback is sometimes the attendants have to tap me on the shoulder to break it down and stow for landing, as I often don't hear the announcement... I definitely stand out in a sea of Bose ) Only people who have commented on the rig so far are a few flight attendants. I know a number of people travel with full sized cans, but I just don't seem to run across them, despite flying roughly monthly.
  4. Don't know if anyone else travels with their Thunderpants (I take mine on every flight now), but thought there might be some interest in my mobile kit. If not, oh well ) I am really enjoying my Thunderpants and if anyone is still sitting on the fence about buying a pair, I urge you to take the plunge, you won't regret it!.
  5. Thought you guys might get a kick out of this page: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/diy-orthodynamic-headphone-measurements-and-contest
  6. The word work is definitely gorgeous and the integration of the two woods is flawless.
  7. Ah, you just got them. Enjoy! You will find that you will get some changes with break-in. I use them for hours each day at work, and looking forward to my next plane trip with them. I have a custom made bag on order for that purpose. Have to protect these guys )
  8. Very spiffy oranges! What woods are those, and has the cabling been replaced? Thanks
  9. Thanks guys The finish chosen came out of my discussion with Smeggy. I travel regularly and I wanted something that wouldn't show wear so much, and this was what he suggested. However I really prefer the more natural satin wood finish, and am extremely pleased with how these turned out, in appearance and in sound quality. The black O2 pads were also based on his recommendation as the most comfortable ones available.
  10. Here are the newest member of the Thunderpants family. Satin katalox wood, Stax black O2 pads, 1/8" plug. Here are the pics: https://picasaweb.go...feat=directlink EDIT: Fixed the link.
  11. I am already liking it here - not often that I come to read a board and get a big smile from the posts ) Regarding the connector question, I'd give a big +1 for Lemo. I used these professionally many years ago, they are miniature works of art and the push pull locking feature is very secure. There was even a high-end audio manufacturer that used them awhile back, can't recall who it was, but never caught on.
  12. Thanks for the welcome! - looking forward to finding more about how things work at Head Case. As to contacting smeggy, I have been a member at head-fi.org for several months. I heard the 'pants at a Portland meet last weekend and I contacted smeggy through head-fi.org PM.
  13. Just happened on this thread so I joined the site here. Ordered my Thunderpants this week so wanted to keep up on this discussion. I didn't know that the T50RP were so hard to obtain, glad smeggy had some in stock. P.S. I like the Dalek cake )
