Speaker Cable as Antennna

Featured Replies

My rig is near my window and it seems that it is subject to some RF interference. My unshielded XLR cables buzzed, and now I suspect that the speaker cable that came with my AudioEngine 2's is picking up some interference.

Is there any quick and easy way to shield the cheap speaker cable?

ERS paper and tinfoil!! ;) In all seriousness you can get copper braiding to pull over the cable but it might just be cheaper to try some CAT5 wire.

I used the last of the ERS to wrap presents!

I need some Cat5 anyway, so maybe I'll pick some up.

Cat5 (or 6 which is shielded if I remember correctly) does make for cheap and easy cables.
