  1. Just a heads up to my fellow GTA-based migrants, it appears there's been some heavy interest in a meet sometime soon. I have put myself out there as organizer if it ends up going anywhere, but there's no way I'm hosting a room of gangly highschool students unless the usual suspects are interested...

As usual, I'm in it for the beer and the conversation, so I'm sure we can get something going. Let me know.

    Cheers,

    ~Ryan

  2. I still have yet to come across the Kinks' SACD releases through my usual shopping means, so this is a great alternative in case I get tired of looking. Especially considering I've already got the redbook releases already. Thanks!

  3. Screw the yankees, we need a buyer from Quebec who can understand the historical value of the team.

I've gotta hope this will be the case. Montreal is a team with a storied legacy and one that's been well-preserved and honoured. I'd hate to see them bought out to become just another club.

Intense final moments last night between the Caps and Leafs... Seems Joseph still has a knack for big saves.

  4. Long board FTW.

On a somewhat related note, allow me to put my vote in for the truck - simple, dependable, tuneable, almost indestructible, and nearly unchanged since surfing hit the asphault:

  5. Anyone excited about this? I'm a bit apprehensive, personally. Firstly, because it's a re-telling of the (biblical) King David. Secondly, it looks like Ian McShane is playing Swearengen sans guttermouth.

BUT... as a period piece/alternate reality I have to say, if they can pull it off, it might be bloody great. Is anyone else looking forward to this one?

  6. Nah, haven't had a chance to listen to more than the first two tracks. Glad to see they still know how to lighten up though. See if you can find any live tracks by them titled "Chicken Fight".

Oh, and for the record, they ALWAYS have a tune relating hockey as an analogy for what's wrong in the world.

  7. You could be right about Terminator - I got into PE way before I got into researching music online... kind of a shame at the same time though.

Lastly, this thread won't be complete without mentioning Grandmaster Flash, one of the the originals of the genre.

You're right - I was hesitant at first just because he pre-dates my referenced DJs by a decent amount, but dude needs his propers and deserves all of it. I seem to have lost my Flash records, something I noticed just recently. >:(
