  1. This is my most favorite thread. Credit should go where credit is due. I believe the threads name should be changed to Knuckledragger's Flotum and Jetsum Thread - or something similar. Anyho .... Thanks for all the posts.

  2. Having a good Ground is important, but I'd emphasize that IMO even more important is that all Outlets and or Circuits that the System is plugged into have the Same Ground Potential. My main system uses 2 dedicated 20 amp circuits (1 each for the mono Amps) and 1 dedicated 15 amp circuit for the Front End. Since I live in a 2nd floor loft in a building that I don't own I couldn't mess with the Ground that has been provided to my panel. What I could do was make sure that all of my connected equipment is seeing the same Ground.

  3. Well,... it took two days to get home, stuck in Detroit for a night.

The CES for my purposes (finding employment) was a mixed bag. I did get a couple of decent leads, but there were a few of us (people looking for similar jobs all with similar experience) floating around. I'd say that I have more experience (and that I'm better :), but that's not necessarily a better thing (potential employers may want to go with a younger (Cheaper) option).

We'll see. Whipping up custom resumes to send out. My connections are better so there's a good chance that my competition doesn't have the same leads.

In the mean time I need to raise some money to live; Anyone interested in a Mint Samantha Fox (topless) picture disc? A 80's icon collectors item. ;)

  4. Wow! All of the Good Luck wishes have warmed the cockles of my heart, and I'm not even sure what the hell cockles are, and why would I want them warm? Regardless, thanks for the good wishes. Tyll stopped by, we had an interesting conversation. I've dug up some good leads, I should be able to get a job, I do talk purtier than a $5 whore.

I'll try to grab some photos tomorrow.

    latter.

  5. we're using this player in our room at CES 29-321, it is mighty impressive. My choice for a reference level CD Player, smoking Good. The VAC Preamp and amps also impress mightily. The Symposium speakers after several years as a not quite ready for prime time are finally Readyfor Prime time. Still the system without cables and racks sells for $70,000

Here's hoping I get. good job so upgrading the audio system might become possible.

I'm going to try and take some pictures to post.

  6. Spoke to Tyll today. The High End is at the Venitiann I believe floors 27,28,29,30,34,35 - I'll mainly be in room 29-321. I've been in the high end for 25 years so walking the halls is non stop smoozing. Main reason I'm here is to network, I need to find a job. I've already gotten a couple of cards requesting resumes. Wish me luck.

  7. My Sister who lives in Arlington (a few bolcks from Metro) called me today asking for help moving tomorrow, so I'm heading down to help (basically watching the movers). I'm going to stay at least through Saturday morning, so that gives me all day Friday to sight see. My last time in DC was in the early to mid 90's (visited the Holocaust Museum shortly after it opened), and I haven't been to the Smithsonian since the 80's.

Where should I go? there was a burger place back in the 70's (Bon Appetite - President Ford use to send Secret Service agents there to get take out. When I was younger it was the air & space that drew me, now perhaps the National Gallery suits me better. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Ethan

  8. All you cable Nay Sayers, I won't even mention the Siltech Silver/Gold component cables I have sitting around. At this point I'd sell them for much less than I paid for them (And I was the Importer), but it would still probably be more than most on this forum would be willing to spend.
