  1. Just got mine. Listened only for 3 minutes before putting them down for burn in. Its been a while since I used bowl pads, but I remember them being more angular. I like the new "flatter" bowl pads.

I'm hoping for a lot of improvement during burn-in. Female vocals (Ride of Valkyries, from von Karajan's Wagner cycle) is very shouty compared to the silky smooth HP-2. Bass is not as even or rounded as well (With or without you). It may go a bit deeper. Also seems to sound harsh at higher volume - I have a habit of listening louder when trying out new gear. Anyway, waaay too early to tell.

  2. I'm on the verge of getting a Stax setup. Since I don't want to commit major funds for a BHSE/WES/$$$ amp yet, I'm going for Omega II (mk1) + one of the Stax amps. Which of SRM-007TA, SRM-727, SRM-007T is most recommended?

Also, if I get the tube energizers, which tubes are worth checking out?

I'll be using a Stello DA100 DAC. For reference, I like HP-2 and K1000 sound. At this point, I don't know what to expect out of the Omega yet - it may become my main phones or complement my dynamics.

  3. Think I'm going to go ahead and pre-order, since I trust the ears and impressions from Tyll, Ed, and jpnums & Voltron. I look forward to comparing with the Qualia 010, it'd be great if the HD800 could supplant it for me because as great as the Qualia sounds it's just really too much money for me to have tied into one headphone.

Would you tell me where jpnum and voltron's impressions are?

    ps. Congrats :)

  4. Not to overstate the obvious, but you should have an easier time hearing an IEM (as opposed to open headphones like RS1/HD600/etc) during meets... so it is not surprising that the ER4S sound clearer during the meet :) You really need more than 10 minutes to judge headphones...

I've yet to hear any IEM (owned er4p, e500, e5, over the years) that are as enjoyable as good open headphones. Not expecting much from the Westone 3, but I bought it anyway.
