  1. You have a good point.

I like to play soccer, but damn do I find it boring to watch on TV. I usually catch a hockey game or two every week on TV during the regular season, but I struggle to watch a soccer game in its entirety during the World Cup. Cultural differences maybe, but I think hockey is so more intense and exciting than soccer to watch. And the players are not sissies (ok grawk, maybe Crosby is), see proof here:

It depends of the teams you watch but mostly if you didn't play the sport you are watching I think you won't find it to interesting.

I though basked was so boring until I started playing it, now I understand how hard those plays are when I watch on the tv and I learned to appreciate it more.

  2. There's something wrong with this. If the sound gets better by pressing them in, if they sound muffled and congested normally, I would normally associate that with them not being in properly.

Try this: try putting them in further, and pulling them out some, and wiggling them around. Have you ever had IEM's before? I'm thinking you don't have them all the way in. Think about when you got the impressions -- they basically should be in exactly like that.

No its my first IEM but yes I have been trying every sort of move, it gets a bit better but any move with my mouse and they go back to the normal.

  3. I think something must not be right. It should be much, much better than just OK. Could it be something else in your audio chain? Also FWIW I felt like my jh13 needed a few hours of play to come up from the "this sounds fine but I don't see what the fuss is about" level to "ohhh, okay, now I see" level. You're past that by now, right?

If all else fails, I don't know what to say except maybe they're just not for you and should be returned. That would be a pity, but it could be that's the way it is.

That's about the level of isolation I have, with dry ears. With moist ears (lube or wet from the shower) isolation improves. But my experience with custom earpieces is that unless they are made of a slightly sticky/tacky substance or else are slightly oversized, outside sounds are muted only so much.

There is definitely a fit problem, yesterday I yawned and magically the left piece got in the sweet spot, the volume got higher and the right in comparison was kinda muted, it was definitely something I never experienced. The sound came effortlessly, it got this crazy micro detail and the bass was something else.. I could feel my entire body vibrate and the sound almost reached the back of my head, really impressive for an iem plus from a clip+.

I already emailed them about the fit, but it seems most people get the right fit after some new impressions so maybe that's what I'm going to do.

  4. He stated that could be 50% better, this is a bold statement to make but you guys at Canjam will surely get this straight.

As for my jh16 I feel depressed every time I put them on after spending this much to have just an ok sound. I'm waiting for an answer from them on the refit possibility.

Quick question for those who have the jh customs, to have an idea how much noise a good fit should isolate,

with no music do you ear the TV on normal volume to actually be able to understand what they are saying and even slight finger snapping ?

  5. Finally got my JH16 a few hours ago and I was not impressed...The sound lacks treble and a bit muffled. I have this feeling of a sucking vacum and a bit like congested ears with wax.

I tried pressing both at same time inside that feeling was gone and the sound changed drastically, the treble was great and the headroom impressive I would say.

Now I'm not sure what to say to jhaudio if its a bad fit or just not long enough tubes I'm bit lost.. Should I take new impressions ?

What tricks can I use to check if isolation is right ?

  6. For everything there's an exception and I was unlucky to be that exception for the JHaudio service.

First it seems something went wrong with the order and they forgot about it, people with later receiving impressions than mine and with 30 order numbers ahead of me got the shipping notice last week.

When I called them to know the status they dint know what was going on and after 10 minutes on the phone waiting for an answer they told me they would send and email and they did, saying it will be shipped Tuesday.

It doesn't bother me much to wait a few weeks more since I have already waited for months, but the thing is if I dint follow the order numbers and didn't have a call on them I would be waiting for nothing it seems.

As if this wasn't lucky enough they got my address wrong for UPS and the answer I got from JHaudio was "For international shipments UPS will not change addresses. We will have to see how it goes. I’m sorry about that." this last isn't their fault of course .

So this is kinda an head-ups if you aren't from USA and thinking to buy a jhaudio product, since you have waited this much I would suggest to wait a month or so until they get back on track with the delayed orders.

Btw isn't really there an option with ups, something I could try, any one has experienced this and did you fix it?.

  7. That was a good read, a lot of things I didn't know about Jerry and Ultimate Ears in there.

Something I've been curious about, anyone know what Brittany and Jaime's relation to Jerry are?

Some one on HF said that Brittany was Jerry Daughter and I believe Brittany its his wife.

  8. Congrats Phil!

Yeah, the shipping is outrageous, I got lucky with Black Friday deal including free shipping. I was going to say something about UPS customs fees, but I'll keep quiet so you stay happy. :P

UPS customs fee ? can you make a spoiler eh

  9. Are yours the Eyris 1 with conventional drivers, or the Eyris DC 1 with a dual-concentric driver and a supertweeter? The Eyris DC1 and Sensys DC1 I've heard are indeed very nice with that sweet DC sound and imaging, but I do prefer the larger DC speakers for the dynamics and impact they yield.

Not sure I think its the ones with superdriver but here are the specs in the manual and a photo

As for the amps, here in Portugal the most regarded amps seems to be the Rotel brand which I never heard of but I'm waiting for an answer with their models prices. By now My choice is lining to the MARANTZ PM 7003 since I tested my gear with a MARANTZ PM 6003 I should be happy with it.

  10. I liked them so much that I bough these speakers right after auditioning them on the store.

Now I need an amp and these are my first speakers I don't have an idea what's good what's not but I have these deals in mind:

    Marantz PM 5003 300

  11. Can't resist it Lars ? Think about the bike walks.

Some of the recent art comes great but some are all pixelized, its a gamble I guess.. That solid deadwood and black eyed blue are definlity the best colours so far.

  12. When I try to reproduce 24 bits 96Mhz files the sound just goes on and off and when I check the DacMagic the 96 Mhz mark Led is blinking, which normally stays fixed indicating the frequency is reproducing. This makes me wonder if the Dacmagic really supports this kind of files or its my computer..

I limited on the computer the frequency to 48mhz and plays just fine... Any guesses
