As the board comes closer to completion, I'd be more than willing to front the cash for, and store/ship, another heatsink run, iff enough people were interested in the purchase (and if Justin would be so kind as to allow us access to the die). Those angled fins are just so damned sexy!

Does MMMetals still have the T2DIY heatsink die?

A big chunk of change is getting ready to vacate my account
what good timing - a smaller yet still substantial chunk of change was just mailed your way this morning

Seth, you probably have the most beautiful set of TP's I have seen! I love how understated (i.e. less flashy) they are than many other types of wood; definitely a sophisticated look. Pairs nicely with those black O2 pads.

Need an overkill T2-like PSU too...
sigma22 not good enough for you?

aww, and I just last week finished procuring all the dual fets for my set of 4 rev. 1 boards :/
you're a true gentleman Kevin, updating this great amp for modern sand, for the sake of the community <3

yen went from 80 per $ to 84 in the past few days
now it just needs to get back to 150 per $

I'll be trying them out of the SRM-323 (hopefully it will be OK) until by BHSE arrives.
Don't sweat it, I'll be using an SRM-252 until I can work out procuring one of the big boys

HE-4
in Headphones
I picked up a set of HE-4's as part of the nyc meet silent auction - pretty forgettable headphones, in all honesty. Very thick and bloomy... similar sound signature to the HD650s, except not good

I think he was being sarcastic, given your post on the top of this page?

huzzah!
Thanks guys for the good words.
Thank you Doctor G for bestowing your latest SS design on me.
FINALLY! IT LIVES! OMFG I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!
After three months of blood, sweat and tears I can hear music through my Stax on my KGSSHV.
The 2SK170 sand did the trick. The +/- bias sits right on zero volts now.
I still need to do a little tweaking on the +out to ground zero bias.
Pics to follow in a few days...

good luck with the new transistors - seems like you're super close to finishing!

In response to Amos' claim that they sound better with more power. Well for a laugh I hooked them up to my Fi 2a3 amp and they sounded better than I've heard before. Now the hum is pretty unbearable when music is not playing but when the music starts it does sound great.
I'd love to have a 45/2a3 or 46 tube amp for these. Justin no one would listen at the full 2w just like no one listens at the full 500w that a McCormack DNA 500 delivers.
The issue with statements like that is that it is not the increased power rating that is responsible for the "better" sound - it is the different amp topology. Some people like a 15watt 300b amp for these headphones, but somehow refuse to accept that they like the sound of 300bs, instead claiming they like the "improvement from 15 watts."

Consider this my confirmation that I am in

I'm in on your buy, if you'll have me. I was #3 in line for pricejapan, but you make a very good case against them, insofar as $100 extra sure is a lot more comfortable for a domestic warranty + no shady shipping practices
same username on that other site, yall know i'm good for it

You should have a listen to my NOS DAC - it uses 8x oversampling
I was curious but had to start reading the review with my eyes rolled, which made it difficult to continue.Really, posting that on a headphone forum? No way.
I stopped reading after that.

Good luck! Your build is stunning

I'm not clear on what yall are getting to upset about - this is the same exact FOTM frenzy that hf has every time a new product is announced. Only this time, it is being shilled by an administrator...

which headphones are you designing for?
i'm on a roll... the kgsshv

Macor would make the coolest stax jacks ever - too bad you dont have any
seems the heatsinks will be out of the question, unless ~25 of us went in on it, and everyone was comfortable doing all the machining themselves. I am not equipped, nor do I have the time, to do tapping for everyone, let alone dealing with the rest of the chassis work. Kevin is a GOD for doing all of that work for everyone's T2's.
edit: note that this would not be TOO difficult for everyone to do, since the new larger extrusion die is exactly 3U tall. angle brackets would probably be unnecessary, since you could (if i am imagining this correctly) tap directly into the heatsinks, to which the boards would be mounted in parallel, much like a Beta24
edit: corrected number of people needed for group buy to 25
