  1. Button's been proving himself to be quite OK this year. And that comes from a die hard Ferrari fan.
  2. North Shore and Dolin Dry martini. I keep seeing Jim posting drinks with North Shore gin. Now I know why. Thank you for the inspiration my southern Illinois friend.
  3. Starting the thread to see who is interested in getting together in Austin in November 2012 for the US Grand Prix Formula One race/Head-Case brouhaha. Race interest or enthusiasm is not required, as a Head-Case family get together is an event unto itself. luvdunhill has mentioned he has room for some people to crash at his house. I'll let him chime in with the details. I'm calling dibs on two spots there for Debbie and I. In trade, if he is interested I will buy his race ticket. And if not I'll compensate some other way. So, who's interested?
  4. Look into some of the math involved in F1 engineering and competition and you may just be surprised.
  5. I am dead serious. We can work out the details as we go, but yeah, we can make arrangements for your family. Formula One combined with HC family and the festivities that go along with that? Fuck yeah!
  6. Calendar was ratified today. So which of our HC folks lives near Austin and has floor space for some folks to crash on? If willing, I'll buy your race ticket(s).
  7. Very envious MIke. I'm not a Deadhead for the most part, but I love the original Europe '72 set. Enjoy! Oh, and it looks like the US Grand Prix will be November 18th, 2012 in Austin. I hope to be there.
  8. Rittenhouse 25 Manhattan. It is a very nice evening.
  9. Cheers!! Thanks again to naaman.
  10. Agreed. I will join you with one of those a little bit later.
  11. Looks like a massively good time. Wish I were closer....
  12. A Tanqueray Rangpur and Fever Tree G&T. Finally got some more Fever Tree and life is sunny and good.
  13. Sorry for your loss Ken.
  14. Happy Birthday!!!!!!
  15. Saw the Tedeschi Trucks Band last night. But first off, opening act was the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and they fucking kicked ass and took names. There are 20 year olds who wish they could rock as hard as these fuckers did. It's one of the few times I saw a big crowd actually pay attention to the opening act. As for Tedeschi Trucks, it was a great show. Lots of stuff from the Revelator album. Susan was in fine voice and showed herself to be a pretty damned good guitarist. Band included a horn section and two drummers and were really tight. As for Derek.... that kid can play a guitar. And the covers they did were my favorite - The Beatles "I've Got a Feeling", Sly Stone's "Sing a Simple Song/Wanna Take You Higher" but my favorite was an obvious tribute to his inspiration, Duane Allman, when they did "Anyday" by Derek and the Dominos, which then went into a jam that eventually evolved into the solo section from The Allman's "Blue Sky". It was beautiful and damned near brought tears to my eyes. A great show to say the least.
  16. Goose Island Summer Ale while waiting for the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, opening for Tedeschi - Trucks.
  17. Debbie's Birthday week continues. Tonight we're off to see the Tedeschi - Trucks Band. Though she doesn't know that yet...
  18. Had some spinach and cheese ravioli in a spicy sage butter sauce. Accompanied by some fresh gazpacho, it was a wonderfully light but filling meal.
  19. Tickets to see the Senna documentary Wednesday evening.
  20. Had some grilled tilapia with a cabbage and fennel slaw made by Debbie.
  21. Well, to make it come full circle, I was wearing my Pliny the Elder T-Shirt today. Life's connections are so cool.
