The SR-SC1, and presumably the 404, is very lightweight and comfortable. There's some clamping force and the earpads do get a bit warm, though.
What the heck happened to the poor 600? A moment of violence? I've got 600s on my head right now. That's doesn't seem easy to do by accident.
I can't lie to you, it was very easy to do, for one whose stupidity is combined with a fat head.
I just finished watching The Transformers on DVD and thought I might listen to some Rihanna - Umbrella... ella, ella, eh eh eh.
I grabbed the HD600, the Raptor (uh, oh, dangerzone) was switched on and I hit R on the keyboard, scrolled, and hit play.
After about 30 seconds of bopping my head around, the blasted clamping force felt uncomfortable! I ripped off the HD600 and unthinkingly bent the headband the same way I usually bend the W5000 headband, except outward this time. Snap!

The SR-SC1 is very clear and detailed. Open-sounding with plenty of air and excellent notes separation. Brighter than the SR-007, it seems more neutral and accurate and less "euphonic" to me. It's actually very similar to the 4070. Both lack some refinement, bass quantity and bass quality vs. the O2, though.

Fing, my little rant wasn't directed at you, it was intended for everybody.
I also have two pairs of R10 headphones. I've replaced the earpads on one of them, the one a later serial # and more bass. When I did so, I noticed the foam rings didn't look great, but they were still in reasonably good condition and not crumbling or deteriorated.
I expect the other, older pair with less bass to have deteriorated foam rings. I'll try to find some kind of replacement when I have them recabled.

The result of Round 1 of the Stax vs. Senn battle is not pretty. The HD600 lies wounded, in two pieces and sans cable.
To add insult to injury, the Airbow SR-SC1 and Lambda Pro have taken the HD600 and HD650 boxes for their own use.

I don't think the R10 is suited for some fast-paced, hard-hitting types of music. It's too reserved. This isn't the same to me as too refined, because both the L3000 and Stax O2 can be exciting and energetic and also refined.

I think objects should be singular unless composed of two distinct, separate units, like chopsticks.
OK, I know this isn't important to everyone, but it has become more relevant to me since I've ended up with 2 units of 4 headphone models.

What's with all the "my 650's," "my HD650s," "my K701s" "W5000's," "W5000s?"
"My HD650," and "my W5000" sound fine to me, and non-ambiguous.
I don't get that with R10's.
Does this mean you don't get that with both R10's, or just one R10?

I believe it's simply because Nanoha cared about you and knew you deserved better. Venio believes that ignorance is bliss.
That is, if you were referring to the "This is an interesting forum" thread where I said what I thought of the Raptor.
It's kind of funny, because if anything, I would think Venio is the meaner of the two.
No, I wasn't thinking about the "Raptor incident." (sounds cool, huh?) I'm definitely interested in what people think about it.
For some reason everyone here seems meaner and intimidating. Is it the forum software? The smilies that all look the same? I'm scared.

Some dealers might have the 4070 in stock.
I thought I would need to order and wait for the 4070, but a local shop had one in stock.

The L3000, W2002 and W11JPN earpads are about the same size, but the W5000's is bigger and fluffier.
OP, if you like the L3000, you'll probably also like the W11JPN.

I listened to a Denon AH-D5000 for the first time today for about 20 minutes. Amp was a Corda Opera and source a CEC TL51X + Lavry DA10. I used the low Z output jack.
It was a brand-new pair and might need some burn-in.
I thought it sounded OK, but not great. It seemed to me competitive versus the DT990-'05 (which I don't like), but not the K701, HD650 or AD2000 (these 3 I like). Bass quantity was strong, maybe a bit too over-emphasized. Soundstage size was smallish and there wasn't much air, more like the L3000 than the W5000.

As for the Ultrasones, Earl, I think you, me, and Elephas were all alone there in the Ultrazone for awhile, pegged as enemies in a sacred land. That was freaky. Do you remember how everyone ganged up on poor Elephas, straight out attacked you, and decided, in a group decision, that my pair must be broken since I couldn't possibly hear things the way I did?

I waited almost 4 months for a balanced Equinox LE for the HD6x0. The wait was long, but at least their estimated delivery date was accurate.
I'm tempted to order something else because of the contest they're running. Two of the things I would want are contest prizes, K701 with Equinox XLR and the hardwired cable for K1000.

I've been looking at some "Fluke" brand multimeters. They're expensive! And it seems I would have to learn how to use it and actually do some math calculations, yuck.
I will ask Mikhail if any extra "anti-909" defensive measures are available.

Yeah, the MS2i is much better than the MS1. I currently have the MS2i, and owned the MS1 twice before but no longer.
The MS2i is so ridiculously cheap locally I just had to buy one even though I don't use it much.

I'm listening to a W11JPN right now and it sounds very, very good.
Using the Accuphase DP-500 > AT-HA5000, I think I prefer the W11JPN overall over the L3000, W5000, W2002 and AD2000.
It loses in many areas to the others; details, bass quality, imaging, air, etc. But it sounds so natural.

I think I'll stick with just a few upgrade options to keep costs down and hopefully a faster delivery date. I doubt I'll ever hear another ES-1 outside of attending a meet in the US, so ignorance will be bliss. Maybe if I keep the upgrades low enough I can also go for the Blue Hawaii SE.

You were supposed to imagine the headphones animated and fighting each other, like the Transformers!
I've belatedly realized the HD600 headband is plastic. The only other headband I've tried bending is the W5000, which can really take a lot of pressure. A local audio shop should have a replacement headband for me soon.
The Airbow SR-SC1 is an excellent headphone, but I like my coloration. I would categorize the SR-SC1 together with the 4070, K701 and K1000 in terms of accuracy and overall neutral tonality. The SR-007, R10 and L3000 which I prefer are more colored as well as more refined.
I still haven't heard a well-driven K1000, though.
