  1. Any of them work with linux?

Whatever you do do not get something with a tenor usb receiver chip, especially the 7022. The volume control is fucked because it's very low and cannot be adjusted. So no "bit-perfect" so to speak by maxing out the volume and avoiding the crunching of the precious bits. This is basically for every kernel release of 3.2 and higher, maybe they fixed it by now but i gave up a while ago.

Also hook it directly into alsa and avoid pulse audio unless you want to use it for other stuff as well besides music.

If you want it to work reliably the xmos based receivers are great but a bit more expensive, i use the musical fidelity v-link 192 because it has aes/ebu and nothing else was free on my dac. But i think there are cheaper options if you only need coax.

  2. Yeah the email said a day or two by email but nothing yet. Checked my spam folder etc, but just got an email they are looking into it so..

Think i'm gonna sell my other cans since they are not getting any attention anymore, these cans are fucking epic.

  3. No, it's not too late.  If you continue to post inane shit, I'm sure changstar would be glad to have you as a member, but you'll be done here.

I indeed was just talking about that fan, if you misunderstood and were insulted in some way my apologies.

But yeah the thing i don't like about fans mostly is the smaller they are the more annoying the noise is. Even more so if it starts to wear out or has to spin too fast.

And indeed the dust is an issue as well, judging by the label the fan is set to suck air out of the case which creates negative air pressure which in turn makes the case a giant dust magnet. Maybe it only spins at a certain power output but i doubt it given how busy it is inside that case.

  4. Well i'm glad i gave these another shot. Really enjoying these and don't really see the need to mod them though i have to sort me a balanced cable. How much harder are those pin's to solder compared to the hifiman's? I know i can reterminate the stock cable but i want to leave that one untouched.

  5. I don't so much have a problem with the weight of the He-500 as i do the with fact that it feels like it's crushing my skull. Perhaps it's a design choice to prevent your skull from resonating from brain rattling bass. The issue lies in the uneven pressure around the ears and the shitty pads. And yes my head is also big..

About the LCD series well, i read they were even less comfortable so i never bothered with them.

  6. They are brutal.  With good source material, they are amazing.  With less good source material, I grab my Etymotics.  The ER-4S is much more forgiving than the HD-800, in my opinion, and this is after doing the mildest foam mod on the Senns.  I'm using a recent Benchmark DAC-1 and a SquareWave XL, single ended (I've run these balanced, and if anything, it just makes them even more brutal).

I hear ya, luckily with this hobby one tends to have more then one headphone. I do have some warm sounding amp's as well(V200 and a custom tube amp) so the gear and music collection should be up for it. But i'll just have to try it out on the current setup, last time the treble bothered me a bit but in retrospect that was music choice and dac. And if that all fails it will go back and i'll stop trying!
