  1. Found this in my archives:
Knowing your opinion on Jades, I wouldn't expect you to help on this one. Thanks again Brigir. I have a friend who wants me to re-terminate the Jades after seeing my work on the ESP-950's. He lost the Stax adapter, otherwise I could use my meter to trace the wires.
  2. Is the bias voltage of the BHSE user changeable?  The reason I ask is that I would like to drive ESP-950's.  My understanding is that the 950's do better at 600 - 620v.  I would also like to drive various other Stax cans which would require lowering bias voltage.  Or do I just not even mess with it because factors other that bias voltage in the BHSE are such that only marginal gains to the 950's come from bias voltage adjustment?

  3. Thanks for the info guys.  Does anyone here remember the Headamp display from CJ 2010?  When I was there and heard the BHSE and O2 setup, I assumed that because the cans were silver they were MKI's.  After getting new info here, I realize that they could have been 007A MKII's.  Anyone?

  4. Could someone enlighten me?  Up until now, I always thought that the SR-007 MKII only came in black.  I assumed that if I saw an 007 and it was the silver color that it was the MKI.  From what I can gather, there is a Japanese Version of the MKII in silver.  Am I correct?

  5. Hey Tyll,  I am not sure, but I wanted to call to your attention something that I noticed in your video.  You made reference to the T2 and stated that it was designed by KG.  I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that the T2 was reverse-engineered from the Stax SRM-T2 (You probably know better than I).  If so, I wanted to point this out in case it warranted a correction.  Should it be referred to as the T2 DIY?  Maybe it doesn't even matter??  Anyway, now that I've done my part to be "helpful,"  Thanks very much for the review.  I really appreciate your perspective window into the sound of these stat amps.  Thanks again.

  6. Been looking hard at the Aristeus on HF. Also want a KGBHSE. Could I ask for some advice? Will it be a problem in the future to get tubes for the Aristeus? Also, I know that the Aristeus is best for the Senns. But the KGBHSE has to be world class with the Senns also, right? The other consideration is which amp is best with the ESP-950's. It seems that the output bias of the Aristeus is more closely matched to the ESP-950''s. Please don't tell me to fuck off. Thanks in advance for any help.

  7. Just ordered two WPI male plugs from Allied. A little concerned about the diameter of the pins though. I would like to use these on my SRM-T1. Also my friend has a Woo GES. Another friend of mine has a machine shop. Should I turn the pins down? It would be best if I could avoid the big baby head syndrome. Am I making a bigger deal of this than I need to?

  8. I believe they use a packing & shipping agent as well as using express shipping.

I had the same problem when buying 12mm x m3 peek screws.

It was $56 for 100- plus $86 postage.

I phoned the seller and asked if they could ship by surface mail as I was in no rush.

They replies that the packing and delivery was farmed out, and they were locked in to the system.

I will ship some to you if you want. I have a usps account and can let you know how much it would cost.

  9. Sounds the same SE or balanced. Any difference will mostly be down to the source and how the output stage is configured/designed.

Thanks. I am seriously considering the Analog DAC from MSB. Although it has a balanced out, it is not a true balanced design. Knowing that the BHSE will do well with it gives me some much needed insight.
  10. I actually do not own the TR2. And I have to admit that I don't own an H2+ yet either. It will take longer this way, but it forces me to build an amp. Not to mention that it is cheaper. The downside is that I won't be able to do an a-b with the TR2. Maybe someone around Chicago will want to get together and have a mini meet so that we can see if the Elekit is a good way to go. In any case, I am in possession of the Elekit TU-879S.
