  1. That's great thanks for confirming I'll get started tonight :-)
  2. I'm about to start my build and was wondering whether the BOM at the start of the thread is accurate? Would anyone who has had successful builds be willing to confirm the parts they used? I'm really keen to get going but the parts are as we all know expensive :-) I've modified my my SRM 1 mk2 to be differential (Spritzer told me how) and it's pretty damn good. I'm really excited to hear the Carbon.
  3. Really great look Soren! I've been trying to decide on style, yours long and low in the all black looks awesome!
  4. Hi Soren, Got my boards Really appreciated cheers :-) I've sold my T1 to buy the bits!
  5. Hi Soren, Has the door closed on adding more PCB's? John McClean feels the GRLV is worthwhile can I have a set for one amp if possible? I found a link on the build thread to a Mouser project it didn't seem to do anything. Is there an up to date BOM available? Also schematics the Carbon? I'd like to order the parts from Mouser as soon as I can. Have you decided when the boards will ship? Sorry for so many questions just over excited about building it! Cheers NEIL
  6. Hi John, That's magnificent you've set the bar pretty high there for us mortals. I'm still lurking, listening and learning thanks for the inspiration Quick questions does the Golden Reference supply make an audible difference? I know that's subjective but I haven't ordered them and maybe too late. What is your Transformer? It looks really tidy. Cheers Neil
  7. I'm watching with interest and this got me thinking I've made PCB's with mains on but just used the spacing on the connectors reasoning they must be far enough apart. The proper answer is this https://www.google.co.nz/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0ahUKEwiPs6i8jOXOAhXGj5QKHXGmD4kQFggcMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fsisko.colorado.edu%2FCRIA%2FFILES%2FREFS%2FElectronics%2FIPC_2221A.pdf&usg=AFQjCNEa4EGy9i_1N9DFkSvA-G7WRvYoug&sig2=1bL_pBagjRyixszFPnuroA&cad=rja Care of google :-) This is the IEC document that expressly stipulates trace spacing vs Voltage. I've been rebuilding my old Quad ESL's and the EHT was potted in beeswax 60 years ago. Some of the newer ones had 'conformal' coating instead which is a special varnish. The IEC did experiments however and they found breakdown was purely a function of spacing. The coating must help with humidity though? I'm a newbie and I've joined the buy group to build a KGSSHV Carbon. I'm getting excited about getting started so sorry to butt in unannounced :-)
  8. Thanks Soren :-) Let me know how to pay and when you need it.
  9. Cheers! Ok I tried to add 2 amp boards and a left and right skinny PSU to the spreadsheet at the start of this thread. Computer says no. Can someone please add these for me and I can pay for them by PayPal or transfer directly. Thanks so much for your help. I'm really looking forward to building this up. I'm using a Pono player which sounds really good, but much better through the balanced output mode.
  10. Hi Head cases I've just discovered Stax :-) I'm using a SRM1 Mk2 which I bought (as it turned out in bits) on Ebay. I found all the information here to set it up and it's brilliant. I then heard that about the KGSSHV carbon and how good it is. I would very much like to build one. I posted here but can't find my post, I'm new to Forums. Can anyone point me to a post/ list of boards I need to build this amp please. I'll put my name on the spreadsheet when I know what I need. I work at the Canterbury University in New Zealand if anyone is local. Thanks !
  11. Hi, I just joined because I bought my first Stax gear last week, an old SRM1 mk2 and some new L700 and I'm utterly mesmerised :-) Naturally I want to explore further. I would like a balanced input as my Pono sounds way better with the balanced mode with my ER4's. Can anyone help me get started on building a KGSSHV Carbon? Really what I need to begin with are PCB's or Gerbers. I don't expect spoon feeding though. While I'm getting parts together I'll read everything I can! Cheers
