they are a little high, but i think you'd have a pretty good shot selling them on Ebay. you'd probably need to be willing to ship them to Europe where they are higher in price to get back to even. anyways, it was just a thought....

my dainbramage is showing isn't it? There's a pair of GS1ks selling on Audiogon right now. Might very well be worth checking out and you can always resell them with minimum loss if they don't suit you. I'm just trying to throw out some nice headphones that you could give a shot. I also had the GS1ks, but i don't think i properly amped them which seems to be important with those cans. Man, at least I'm trying here people. I still don't know what my point is. I think I just like replying and throwing crap out there...

you are not in rush you don't like and you are not impressed all by some of the best headphones in the World so. i thought that you may give the ultrasones a shot. they are pretty high end cans and you may dig em or at least think they are less trashy. going by what you are saying if they suck they'll take over top spot as your number one can

if u can try the ultrasone edition 9s. had them but annoyed me after a short time but they are very good headphones.

from what i know (which isn't that much) there is the brown headband, no serial number, black mesh covering the drivers instead of the white. metal tips on the cupholders instead of the plastic they use 2day. i believe the really old ones didnt even come in a wooden box. some have gold letterings on the (L) and ® instead of silver. some even have a pinkish tint when looking in the driver like mine did which some people said was something but i forgot what. eitherway it's all mystery and varies which makes it cool!

plz also remember it is very easy to say no. i didn't go around emailing people to buy them. in fact my PM box was freakin flooded with interest not to mention it wasn't like they were for sale for a week or so either. it was an afternoon and gonzo!

HOLY SHITBALLS! our RS-1s are worth some serious cheddar now! and they are WHY? cuz there were others who wanted them and were willing to pay and even trade their beloved HP1000s for them. Personally, i see more HPs the vintage RS1s going around.....

it has nothing to do with me wanting a pair laurent but people are saying that the most they should ever go for is $650 and that nobody believes that i sold it for what i sold it for so....i am kinda being an ass and want to make a point. To those who believe the vintage RS-1 in great condition should never go for more than $650 (stating that is pushing it) I say I will give you $950 right now. Just PM me. Seems like a pretty fair deal No? I could care less about the vintage RS-1 cuz I am never gonna get a nicer set than i sold. Trying to make my point that's all. Congrats on finding what you were looking for. Maybe we can start talking about one of your HP2s?

and BTW most of the offers that came in were for around $1000 lowest for $550 to Hong Kong. I shouldve held on to all the PMS i had deleted all the names and just posted them here or on head-fi. for entertainment purposes. I'll tell you what if any of you have a vintage pair of RS-1s i'll give you $950 for them right now. that's $300 more than you would ever imagine paying for them. very simply i want them with a brown headband, no serial number and the original box. I am not joking! PM me. They need to be in great condition!

man you guys are starting to make me feel like a ripped this guy off. larryminator made me some nice offers for them including trading an HP2 with me paying additional cash. why do any of you think id refuse him or not take $650 if it was all BS? no BS people whether you believe me or not.....

like i said i compared a couple of newer ones to the vintage. i did prefer the sound of the vintage but that aint saying much.

youd also have to sand out the serial number, throw on some black mesh. the buyer told me that he had never heard a more beautiful headphone than a vintage RS-1 also. he mentioned that the new RS-1s sounded like crap but loved the vintage and looking by his headphone collection on headffi he seems like a pretty trustworthy source. no wooded box you are correct! but i think of all things to make them vintage the wooden box would be the easiest thing to reproduce.

i don't know what made them so special, though i did have a couple of new RS-1s that i compared them to and they did in fact look better made, but then again everybody seems to say that all vintage RS1s in general look better. I did compare them with a vintage set somebeod had in the city and the ones i had were glossier and the wood was a nicer color and as mentioned the RS1 button was in fact conical which people on headfi dug and both the dudes in the city also mentioned, but is this all worth that much more? like i said maybe there is some hidden freakin treasure in the drivers so something. the person i bought them from told me they were never ever used and sitting in his drawer for years. how am i suppose to know the truth there but they looked brand new. maybe all of your RS1s are worth lots more. who knows?

You guys made me join by reading these posts. Im the dude who sold the Vintage RS-1 on Head-fi. It actually went for $1650 in the end to some headfier in San Fran. More interestingly we simultaneously emailed each him offering me $1700 while I was emailing him back with $1650 so it couldve went for even more. More ridiculously there was another headfier in Denmark who was hoping that the deal with this guy fell thru so he could jump on them and this was all later in the day because i had 3 more offers of 1500 plus earlier that people bailed on. I am just relaying what other collectors were telling me (regarding the price) I took them to the city to a couple of guys that i imagine know more than me and both told me that i should never ever sell them because of the condition they were in and that they should fetch over $1500 if i did so what the hell was i suppose to do?(one guy actually wanted to trade me a pair of his HP1s but i didn't like the condition they were in). When i put up the IC on headfi I recieved about 60 PMs in a couple of hours 5 offers were over $1500 and one finally stuck at $1650. The way things were going they probably couldve easily went for $2000. Im a straight cat and explained what was going on to the buyer and that i bought them for virtually nothing ($450) thinking they were just regular RS1s but then had them looked at and told they were a lot more. In the end i kinda feel sorry that i let them go cuz in all reality they were beautiful. Trust me when i tell you that he will have no problems selling them for more. is it all crazy? FU*K YEAH! and im pretty sure that he;ll pop his head up on headfi flaunting them proudly. Like i said i don't know, but they did sell for that much and in no way is this BS as mentioned here. maybe there are diamonds or something in there that i got no clue about but none the less they were sold for $1650 and please remember that they went in less than a day so who the hell knows if i wouldve waited. again im not trying to be an ass here or rip anybody off but what was i suppose to do. somebody tells you something and when others are offering you that was i suppose to just turn my head and go and sell them for less. i am M.
