  1. aww grawk, I thought you said you lived in Missouri at one time.. didn't we teach you what "cool" was? Missouri is the epicenter of hipness. Damn I wish my overalls would dry faster on the clothsline outside. I am slaphappy waiting for happy hour to get here.
  2. Where does the uber hip hair style of including a tail fall into? Is that in the same category as a mullet .. or slightly cooler? I had long hair in college, and when I got done and got married I got a haircut, but had them leave a tail just to mess with my wife. I came home and tried to convince her it was cool (with every intention of cutting it off once she believed it was there to stay). She snuck up behind me and chopped it off with scissors though.

hah, at the first reference to shaving legs I knew it was only a matter of time before it ended up here
  4. Plus you got that cool "swish swish swish" sound with every step... The only thing dumber than me in my parachute pants was me trying to break dance. Thank goodness youtube wasn't around back then
  5. Just curious? I ran across a pair I had from 6th grade in some old boxes at my parents house.. still wondering why they went out of style. Also got to ponder why there are so many zippers, yet so few pockets. Beat Street II, Electric Boogaloo - saw it in the theaters.

Plus if you forget to shave a strip or patch of hair on your legs, you don't look as goofy as when you do so on your face. The worse scenerio is when I somehow forget a patch right under my nose and it looks sort of like a little hitler stache. Second place is when I forget a patch on the corner of one mouth - that just makes me look even stupider than I normally do
  7. Sources include my macbook and my ipod, currently using an original portaphile v2 (the one before the maxxed one came out). I am in line for a pico though.... I hope, Justin needs to update the pre-order list! Which of the headphones mentioned can't be driven by such portable mechanisms. (thanks for all of the advice btw)
  8. heh, don't get me started on Nelly or St. Louis. I wouldn't be here if I could convince the boss.. err, wife, to move. She has this thing about being close to her family or something. Bleh. Anyway, trying to make the best of it
  9. no link for the lazy (me)? heh, ok, I'll find it tomorrow at work and poke through it. Is there a way to determine how many other people are from STL on this forum? I'd love to organize some sort of meet in my area (I haven't heard of one, but could have just missed it on hfi or something).
  10. w000000t! Sold some camera gear on eBay and got way more than I anticipated getting for it. I'll have enough for new cans and not have to dip into my bank account. I am psyched. I am leaning towards the 225's, but I am curious how AKG 701's stack up in comparison? (nobody mentioned them so far) PS: I love this site! It has so much more of a laid back feeling compared to others... plus it isn't blocked by my work's proxy I just wish it was more active (yes, I am bored at work all the time and find myself refreshing faster than you guys post!)

    Two from the Vault

Wow, for one reason or another I never ripped this album to my ipod .. so I haven't listened to it for at least 5-6 years... just popped it in and am grooving to it. I remember when I bought it when it first came out and was at a friend's house. I put it in the cd player to just "preview it" before we went out and was immediately floored enough to just lay on his apartment floor and listen to the whole thing through. They all left without me, but I didn't care, I was immersed in the music. </random pointless story>
  12. How about: Sgt Pepper's vs. We're only in it for the money (zappa) -or- Pink Floyd: The Wall vs. The Who: Tommy

    facial hair

If we morphed the conversation into how ear hair effects IEM seal or how just the right length of ear hair enhances soundstage it might be appropriate to stay in this forum? Sorry, yeah, started this in the wrong place. I'll start thinking coherently by tomorrow (hopefully).

Dammit, don't you hate when you get to work (after a weekend of not shaving) and realize you missed a huge patch somewhere on your face? Bleh. Monday's suck... and worse yet, am hour was stolen from me this weekend.
  15. Ok, I know this is probably a "personal preference" type thing, but I am looking to buy my first real pair of headphones sometime soon. I have always used IEMs and am currently using se530's, which I love, it is just too hard to keep taking them and back out everytime someone at work (or at home) comes over to talk about something. I don't have a budget, but I'd probably try to stay in the 200$ or below range. I'll be using iPod->portaphile/pico or macbook pro->pico as a source. I listen to a huge range of music, but love live music and want to feel like I am on stage with them So.. to my question.. what are the differences in sound between the grado sr60/80/225? I have heard that these headphones are overly bright and lack bass - which I find fatiquing. What about the Senn 580's/650's? What are their characteristics? Basically just looking for good deal options and any advice people can steer me to. Not being able to try out a huge selection of them makes it hard to know. Thanks guys
