Using US electronics in Japan

Featured Replies

The obvious solution to using US voltage electronics in Japan is a step up transformer. Or a different AC adapter if that's possible.

But say I wanted to use this in Japan. Is it doable without a step up transformer? The IEC inlet on top right says EMI Filter 115V/250V~ 50/60Hz

I've not had any issues with anything I bought that was set for 110V here.

I can't view imageshack pictures from work, but if it's rated for 115/250v 50/60hz it'll work fine on 100v :)

It will work, but the regulators may be running at the very bottom of their

regulation range. So noise and other problems might show up.

Would it be somewhat easily/affordably moddable?

sure, find a transformer that has 110v primaries with the same PCB footprint and pinout as the Talema.

Cool, thanks for the info everyone. :)

Also, maybe you could substitute low dropout regulators, but I'd rather just use another trafo. Those are um, challenging to remove, as there are 8 pins on the trafo that have to all be heated up at once to remove them.
