Hmm that's weird. My Pioneer unit processes audio through the HDMI inputs. Can't you use toslink or coax instead for audio, with HDMI just for video, and still get surround?

It's a good price for a good power supply. Especially if billy wants to do SLI (which he mentioned in his first post). Power supplies also only draw the power they need and not the rated wattage (850w in this case).
True, but aren't power supplies more efficient when drawing close to their rated wattage? Haven't had any experience with SLI personally, as I haven't built a computer since switching back to Apple like 10 years ago, just thought 850 sounded massive.

i've been watching movies for a few hours, and i'm pleased as punch. i helped my mom buy an HDTV today (a Samsung LN40B550 is what we decided on) and i've had my fill of HDTV set ups for the day.
good to hear. i'm a big fan of plasma tvs, too bad Pioneer dropped out, but Panasonic makes some damn good ones as well.

Fan failure makes the most sense if those temps are correct. The CPU is def. throttling itself at that point...

while i'd vouch for these as well, they don't isolate worth a damn, so instead of hearing some music and some wind, in my experience, it'd be all wind.
