  1. Audio Expo North America - AXPONA: Home Page

For the uninitiated, see the link above for info on Axpona. It's pretty much an audio show that Stereophile is sponsoring in the Jacksonville area. Axpona was actually advertised at RMAF '09 and a couple weeks ago I finally booked my flight. This time I fully intend on doing some touristy stuff in Florida, since I didn't get to do anything touristy the last two times I was there. ;) I take it March should be a good time of year for that?

So will anyone else also be there? Anyone know if we could convince these guys to do a headphone display room? :D

Doubt I'd be able to attend. It looks like a good group of vendors though. I'd be interested in checking out the Ayon gear. The Orion integrated with headphone out looks interesting, along with the Skylla DAC.

  2. It's the same connector as the iPod, so yes; but there are other issues (the software on the iPhone has a way of determining if the connector is iPhone compatible or not and complains, but I believe otherwise works).

The iPhone needs a resistor (I don't know the value) between two pins on the connector or it prompts you to put it in "Airplane mode" when you plug the LOD in. The LOD will still work without it but the prompt is anoying.

I had a guy over at HF make me a LOD with the resistor inside the plastic dock connector and it works great. I'll need a shorter one (or shorten the one I have) for use with the Slim though.

  3. Thanks for the input folks. I'm basically down to the following choices in order of preference:

    1) Muddy Water Blue translucent for both

1a) Black translucent with R/L as above (but small graphics)

    2) Muddy Water Blue trans for R, black trans for L

    3) Muddy Water Blue trans for L, Dark Red for R

I think both the R & L would look good on the Muddy Water blue
