I am pleased to announce two new headphone amplifiers from ecp audio: the DSHA-1 and the L-2. The DSHA-1 is a fully differential (balanced) solid-state headphone amplifier. Designed for exceptional synergy with Grado headphones, it is an excellent choice with other dynamics as well. It is extremely clean, clear, and detailed yet tube-like in its warmth. The unique differential topology uses Lundahl amorphous core input transformers to provide noise free voltage gain (selectable to 6dB or 12dB) and high CMRR (better than 120dB at 60Hz), and MOSFET source followers for output power. The output is transformer coupled: eliminating capacitors from the signal path an…

Hi All, We are a group of audiophiles based in Singapore who have been tinkering around to make a pair of planar magnetic IEMs. We love the sound of planar magnetic drivers and always wondered how it would be like if we could really take that sound anywhere on the go with us. After about a year of development, we managed to create a closed planar magnetic IEM which is also lightweight enough to bring with us anywhere on the go. We would just like to make a small announcement over here to share what we have been doing with the community. Thank you! Attached is a poster we have made to just highlight some of the features of our IEMs as well as a shot of it. T…

Dear friends, Amb.org is currently down due to a problem at the ISP. Unfortunately it is taking a long time for them to fix it. I’m very upset that it has taken so long without resolution, and it appears that it will be down for maybe another several days. The level of service I’m receiving from their customer support has been abysmal. Meanwhile please be patient as I work with the ISP to restore the connectivity. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. -Ti

Due to my impending move at the end of the month to a new and bigger house it is time to have a moving sale. All the amps I have in stock (so not the KGSSHV Carbon as I can't make enough of them) are included plus all the special items I have as well. They are all discounted by 15% and free shipping worldwide is included. See the News section of my site for a complete list of everything included or just click here. The sale will run from noon today (UTC) to midnight on Sunday the 17th. Everything is in stock and ready to go so shipping is expected a week from final payment. Could be less, just depends on how busy I am. Now I'll get back to packing...

I'm quickly donning my MOTMOTMOTMOT hat here. I working on updating the DIY part of my website and putting all the stuff that was in the old F/S threads here up there. Some stuff is still missing as I just forgot about it while wondering how did I accumulate all this stuff. http://mjolnir-audio.com/?page_id=73 Some new stuff too as I finally think I have enough 2SC4686A's to go around. Also a small PCB to use 12VA PCB mount transformers for the low voltage supply of the KGST. This means the Antek 275V transformer can be used easily and this is far cheaper than using custom iron. Also KGST boards with the mini KGSSHV psu. The new KGSSHV onboard design…

ecp audio is moving! Rather than packing up all of our amps, putting them in storage for the summer, then treking them across the country, we are selling them at a discount. All prices include shipping to the CONUS unless indicated. Everything is assembled and can ship within a few days except for the L-2 prototypes which will need a couple of extra days to get them ready. All L-2's are 30% off. L-2's with Lundahl amorphous core input transformers and Electra-Print either nickel, or nickel/steel pinstripe output transformers are $2595.00 $1816.50. L-2's with nickel input transformers and nickel output transformers $2495.00 $1746.50. L-2 prototypes (fr…

TomB and I are ready to start gathering people to prototype our new amp. For those who do not know, this is a CCS loaded, transformer coupled parafeed headphone amplifier. The transformers are custom designed 10K:300 ohm with a 32 ohm tap so they should work well with just about any dynamic phones. We would prefer people who have some experience with high voltages and or building with tubes. Also, people who can take a few measurements would be nice, though none of that is, strictly speaking, necessary. All you really need is a soldering iron. Here's how it will work -- we will supply a circuit board, a pair of output transformers, a power transformer, a p…

Please read the following, we need your input: I represent a team of entrepreneurs as well as budding audiophiles. Before you’re dissuaded from reading, I’m not asking for money, investments, supplies, donations; anything physical. I’m here to ask you for is your advice; what can we do better, what do you like, what do you dislike-anything, really. In the end, this could possibly benefit everyone, so please offer anything you can. The idea: Headphone Rental and Retail Company I know that this idea has circled around before, and most of the companies who have tried this either recalled their service or failed, but we believe we can tackle this in a more efficient,…

Hello everyone. My name is Rhydon, i am a long time member of Head-Fi & Head-Case as well as the founder of Symphones. This project is my first venture as a 'member of the trade' here on the forum. Recently there have been a few instances questioning the trust of certain manufacture's and their products. While these situations do not reflect the hard work and dedication of the majority, they have no doubt taken a toll on the community. As a new company offering a unique product, I understand how trust can be important for first-time buyers. While we have spent the last 3 years developing a solid product, i understand how some may remain skeptical. To show our…

Hi everyone - never thought I'd ever become a "trade member" but after getting the DIY bug to cut some Grado cups I realized I could offer them to others as well. For what the lathe and other woodworking have tools have cost me to buy and set up I easily could have picked up an RS-1 or GS-1000, but that wouldn't be any fun, right? I'm very proud of the pieces I've produced so far, and will have more on the way very soon. For now I'm only making cups for Grado (& Symphones Magnum) drivers but I might include other types in the future. My work can be seen on the 'products' page at: www.ohrenholz.com Much thanks!!!

HI All, Both Pete and I have been hard at work creating new products for the high end headphone listener. Our newest creation is the Apex High Fi Audio Arête. The Arête uses a single ended discreet JFET gain stage and the same MOSFET output stage as our Peak. It serves as both a headphone amplifier and a preamplifier. The Arête is $1095 and comes with an external switching power supply and can be upgraded with our Volcano power supply! Save $50 if you order the Arête and Volcano together (the switching supply is not provided in this package) or upgrade to the Volcano later for $750. Both power supplies operate 110v - 240v, 50Hz to 60Hz …

As some of you already know APureSound is the official reseller of Einar Sound amplifiers. Einar Sound contacted us and send us a demo unit to try. We absolutely loved the amp taking sound quality, price, and build quality into consideration and agreed to be their reseller. The VC-01i is a result of many years of research and development. It was designed to be a real uncompromising balanced solution, along with the hardest effort to minimize practical dimensional size. The entire circuits from input to output process separately the positive and negative phase of the signal for each channels. It is capable to drive any headphones, balanced or unbalanced, with either hig…

This headphone needs no introduction. Having been released late 2009 this headphone has taken the audiophile community by storm and with a good reason. The HE-5 is regarded as one of the best headphones available today, but at a very reasonable price. We were so impressed with the sound reproduction and quality of this headphone that we will now keep them in stock. Our only issue was with the stock cable in regards to design, construction, and materials used. Combining the HE-5 headphone with the APureSound V3 cable makes it the best headphone available for purchase today. Headphone Specifications:

I'm going to be previewing a new portable USB DAC/Amp -- no official name yet -- at the Maryland meet next weekend, in the form of a working prototype circuit board. I'll have it hooked up to a MacBook with lossless FLAC. There are several portable USB DAC/Amps available but all of them use the same DAC design -- one of the all-in-one chips from TI which has a USB receiver, 16-bit DAC, and analog/headphone output stage. This chip is really intended for use in things like cheap USB speakers, LCD monitors w/ built-in speakers, and the performance is not very good (my prototype has 10% the THD of this chip, and that's including my headphone amp stage set at a gain of 6 c…
