This is good news, but I'd be much happier if the great-sounding, well-priced Svetlana 300B's went into production again BUT with improved quality control.

Wow, I didn't realize the EF-M 22 mm had such short minimum focus distance with 1:2 magnification, on par with such "pseudo Macro" lenses like Zeiss 50 mm f/2 "Makro." Here's hoping B&H ships my backordered EOS-M with 22 mm as soon as possible. I would love to feed the RAW's through Nik Silver efex and Color efex.

Snap! I couldnt' resist and ordered the EOs-M with 22 mm.

I actually like DPP, but I have many different Photoshop plug-in's that I need to use, so I would have to open the RAW in DPP, then use the "transfer to photosop" function, then use the plug-in's. I already do this sometimes, but it takes much longer time than opening the RAW in PS to begin with, and having both DPP and PS open slows down my computer. Not something I would want to do for every EOS-M file.. The more I think about it, if I ignore the low price of EOS-M, I KNOW I will not be using the EOS-M with EF lenses/adapter after the initial curiosity wears off. Then there is really no reason to stick with Canon for the "pocketable" aps-c. Since I kind of hate that old Canon 18 MP sensor's IQ relative to other companies' sensors, e.g. Fuji, Sony/Nikon, I think I'll pass on the EOS-M. In the end, it'll be worth it for me to pay more $$ for a pocketable camera I can get excited about..

Actually Canon has 1.6x crop factor, so 22mm= 35 mm, the classic focal length. I'm really tempted to buy it, except EOS-M RAW files are not supported by anything earlier than Photoshop CS6/ACR. I am still on CS5 and don't feel like buying CS6 just for this purpose, so I guess I will wait until EOS-M Mk II and my next full frame body come out for major software upgrade.

XMOS seems to be the favored USB board these days, especially on "high end" DAC's. Personally, I think it could and should be much improved. For example, it is still powered by computer's USB BUS power, and it is still only USB to spdif converter, which then feeds in to DAC's spdif receiver, no I2S. Considering all that, it's actually amazing it sounds as decent as it does. Somebody should mod it to use its own power supply/battery and take I2S straight to DAC.
-
Was CD transport used or computer/USB for the comparison? Both the Meitner and ECD-2 use the XMOS USB board, which is also present in my home DAC.

EOSD2376 by drjlo2, on Flickr Just got this Marumi DHG 77mm CPL, but I haven't opened the seal due to second thoughts, especially how it has noticeable flare compared to something like top-line B&W (see link below). I hate flares in filters. Anybody have experience with Marumi, B&W, Nikon CPL, or any other thoughts? http://www.lenstip.com/index.php?art=115&roz=23

If you google EdMika or search for EdMika 55mm on eBay, you will get some good ideas. Ed makes classy brass eos adapters for certain FL/FD/nFD Canon lenses, of which the FL 55 mm f/1.2 lens is the most famous. Normally, one would have to track down a FL 55 mm f/1.2 lens, buy the EdMika adapter ($150), and do the conversion himself, but if you're lucky there would be one already converted for sale such as this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-FD-FL-55-mm-F-1-2-Lens-with-EDMika-EF-/151034572756?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item232a5cafd4 I had one before, but my friend really lusted after it, so I let him buy it since I already own the 50L anyway, and I tend to like AF on my 5D III, which does not have interchangeable focus screen like Mk II. This was a f1.2 test shot with the FL55. DZ3C2525 by drjlo1, on Flickr
