with the high frequency noise & the white 3GS turning brown from overheating, i'd expect a firmware update to adjust the power management (& conveniently kill ultrasn0w unlocking) shortly... but first Apple has to acknowledge the problem...i'd be very wary of the 30 day return/cancellation policy if i had bought the 3GS the day it came out... maybe i'm being alarmist...

shazam, midomi, facebook, bejeweled 2, fring etc are all pretty popular... but there are a lot of apps for jailbroken iPhones like winterboard, backgrounder, ispoof, iblacklist, clearcam etc that add functionality... then there's the app that makes the other apps free...if that's your thing...

or if jailbroken there's an app where you just slide your thumb across the top of the screen and it lets you turn on/off wifi/3g at the touch of a button...

nice... i think i'm going to give up on ordering online after reading about all the seemingly random shipping delays & just wait 'til payday...local apple store is sold out, walmart hadn't heard of the new phone(!) and i'm not keen on the at&t store...best buy it is... got my replacement otter box with bumper sticker...the unlock of my 3g is still fine (although i did have 3g go in & out a bit at first) & now i'm trying to track down a motorola endeavor as apparently it's awesome...

used ultrasn0w on my 3g with 3.0 earlier tonight...everything's still workin' fine...tomorrow i'll see if i can find someone with t-mobile...

ditto on the packaging... was easy to setup for dad 'til we got to the test disc...that looks like it'll take some time/patience...he wanted to watch the U.S. Open & a couple of the three auto races so i didn't get to see Gran Torino (i can spell now)...maybe some other time... i see NAD's got a new blu-ray player for over twice the price of the OPPO...i have a hard time believing it's any better...

mine's been in its box for well over a month now...i'm not gonna tell my dad how much it cost...but i am gonna stay to watch Gran Turino...

i've got the otterbox case (3g defender)...the clip broke so i started putting it in my pocket...there's a trick to keeping the front screen of the case from sticking (watermarking)...you can dust it very lightly with baby powder or the like... recently i dropped my 3g from a decent height & the bottom of the inner plastic molding shattered (but the phone made it out unscathed)...i called up otterbox as they have a lifetime warranty...they took my info & shipped me a replacement free of charge...they didn't ask for the damaged one to be returned or even for proof of purchase... anyways...has anyone who's already received their 3g s experienced this--> IPhone 3G S plagued by sound issues? : Boy Genius Report ?...seems like it could get annoying...

upgrade price for me is $500... i'm hoping that the non-commitment price makes it to the at&t online store so that bing/live cashback can be used making it $500 again, but w/o the contract extension... but i'll probably crack next week...
